NEW SKY INSTALLATION - TV/BROADBAND/PHONE

I'm new the this community and will be leaving Virgin for Sky next month.

My work phone is wi-fi, willl this work ok.

I still have my home landlines but the main one is connected to back of Router/hub. I don't have an accessible phone point anymore, will a new one be fitted ...... assuming one is needed and Sky don't work on same wi-fi for phones as Virgin. If Signal to my working comp is low, would I be able to have an additional Router in the kitchen to boost Wi-fi ?

Re the dish installation .... My TV is in a corner in centre of house, will the cable from outside be hidden or run on floor or ? We have fully fitted carpet so a tad concerned how they'll manage without it looking awful.

Thanks so much for any information you can give ..... getting jittery : (

If it's a VOIP phone which connects to your broadband service, not your landline phone socket, it should be ok.

You'll have internet calls, where your landline phone needs to be connected to your broadband Hub, as now, so that calls are routed via the internet. There won't any other phone socket. If you've existing extension sockets they won't work with Sky Talk (landline). Note that the only connection to Sky's landline is via the physical phone socket at the back of the Hub. It's not possible to connect wirelessly to the Hub.

Not a router (unless it can be configured to work as an access point), but Sky can provide a wifi booster where necessary.

Sky's standard installation involves installing the cables through an outside wall, then running them as necessary along skirting boards.

As @Mark39 indicates, the standard Sky satellite installation isn't particularly subtle, and there's no option to have a bespoke concealed set-up put in by Sky.  For that you'd need to contract a local independent installer and pay them for the necessary number of hours.

I wouldn't place too much value on a single post. Sky advisers have always been perfectly pleasant and helpful whenever I've had occasion to contact them. The call answering bot is an irritation but is easily dealt with - just don't say anything when it asks questions!

Sky were really helpful when I moved from Virgin to Sky. I had my hesitations, but went ahead and have never looked back. To be honest the final straw with Virgin was the phone call to try and retain me and they basically ended the call with, you'll regret it.

six years on I've never regretted it.

Re: NEW SKY INSTALLATION - TV/BROADBAND/PHONE

Thank you Mark. I do have Sky coming am for TV and I believe open reach pm to sort phone line to cater for router or whatever they call it. Big changes after 33 + years with Virgin and changing , so nervous .. far lower broadband speeds than I have now which is a worry working from home. Just 🙏 everything ok for work ... much appreciated though . Really appreciate your response, have a good weekend .
