My sky q won't connect to my broadband

My sky q used to be connected via WiFi to my eir fibre broadband. Recently disconnected itself and will not reconnect. Tried to connect with an ethernet cable and still no connection. I need help.

Hi @Terri-mac 

If you are trying to connect by Ethernet then you need to carry out a Network reset on the Q box with the Ethernet connected.  When all boxes are connected by Ethernet you can then switch off all Q box WiFi if you have no mini boxes.

Network Reset found in Q box Home - Settings - Setup - Network.
Highlight Status and then select Reset on the right hand side. Select connect wired to non Sky Router.   Do not carry out any WPS and just wait for the box to connect. It may take a couple of minutes. If it does not connect there is an issue with the Ethernet connection.

If you have no mini boxes soon as it connects go immediately into the Q box hidden menu and turn off WiFi.

To enter hidden menu press Home and navigate down to Settings but do not select Settings.
With Settings highlighted press 0 0 1 Select.
Go to Network to turn off both bands of WiFi. Confirm before exit.

I repeat that you can only turn off the WiF if you have no minis.

Still no connection. It says my network name is SKY*E*** and not my eir fibre network. It's an absolute joke. Not getting anywhere, and would welcome any help available.

have you disabled wifi?

Yes disabled WiFi, followed the instructions on the reply. Worked for a couple of days, now back to square one with no connection. It keeps saying the network is Sky*E*** and not our eir one.

Can you just double check it hasn't re-enabled wifi by itself?
