My sky q mini box is trying to connect to my neighbours Wi-Fi so won't work on my house. How do I change it to my Wi-Fi? The main box is already connected

It's unlikely that that is what's happening

hi @Rebecca55

I am guessing the network you are seeing is a SKY network & your home wifi is not SKY.

When your home wifi is not SKY the minis do not connect your wif but a wifi generated by the Main box

Hi @Rebecca55

Minis using WiFi will only connect by WPS.

Normally this to the main Q box (or another mini or Q booster) but if you are on Sky Broadband you can also use the Sky Q router .

Unless you are running next door and pressing the WPS on one of your neighbours Q boxes it's not going to connect to any of his WiFi

I have exactly the same issue and none of my near neighbours have the rogue SkyId network ID whcih is SKY1E292. The pervious anser alleging "unlikley" cleary was not a technical response, so is there anyone qualified anough to provide a factual answer please?

Thanks in advance

hi @Jivebaby

As I mentioned earlier when your wifi is not with SKY the minis connect over a 'Private' SKY network generated by the main box  - this will have a wifi name in the format you describe

@Jivebaby You are correct, I wasn't being technical, it still remains extremely unlikely though for the reasons provided by others.

Re: My sky q mini box is trying to connect to my neighbours Wi-Fi so won’t work in my house. How do

My network is with Sky, so have my Sky network ID, plus this random one. Spoke to Sky tech and they confirmed that the SKY1E192 is correct, however they weren't completely sure. During software updates and various resets the network ID on the Sky mini reverted back to my network. He was surprised and was unsure why the previous conflict emerged.

My symptom/ problem was word/speech dropping out of programmes viewed via a Sky Mini Q with the rogue Network ID- Tech suggested reducing disk storage on Q box to 70% which is understandable, but what's the point in having a 2TB box if I can't use 95% + of it?

So far it hasn't been rectified. So issue is still  continuing to interrupt viewing. Very annoying

@Jivebaby you have probably tried ths but Have you tried rebooting your router when that is up and running

rebooting the main Q box ie
putting your box into Standby then switching it off at the wall for 30 seconds
switch it back on then follow the on screen instructions

then finally

rebooting your mini box

Superuser - when you check your own SkyQ mini box via the attached screen, does it show SKY1E292 or your own Sky network ID?

It's clear now to me that the Network ID isn't critical, or at least doesn't seem to be, as the fault is via both!  I now suspect a faulty box.

Re: My sky q mini box is trying to connect to my neighbours Wi-Fi so won’t work in my house. How do

Many thanks- have just done the Qbox reset as you've suggested, followed by the mini reset. Unfortunately the issue remains.

Broadband remains OK and viewing the main TV linked by cable to the Qbox runs perfectly.

Checked a few random channels and the fault is ONLY on Sky News 501- so far. It also manifests on the upstairs TV via 2nd Mini, so the issue is with Sky News when viewed via Sky Mini boxes.

Sky News is OK via the main TV. Weird!

Anothe minor issue emerged inasmuch that the third box cannot be used as the system indicates that too many boxes are being used even though I'm care to only use one at a time, depending upon which room we're using.
Cannot find a way to force the system to behave correctly.

System is entirely SKY based
