My sky box is not working i have tried all suggested solutions

How do i get a new sky box as mine is broken

Channels are blue - engineer came and said an issue with building this has been checked and all other flats have no issues with Sky - engineer wrong. I have run all diagnostic checks suggested by Sky and in the discussion group no change - hence only option from discussion is box is not working.

You mention other flats, so is your set up linked to a communal satellite dish?

Yes all off the same  - the engineer thought that was the issue but we have had the company that manage this out and they have looked at what the engineeer suggested and found that was not the issue - we spoke with the building manager who said no other flats had raised issues with Sky not working hence nothing wrong with our system. Interestingly when we ask for diagnostics on our Sky box on the Sky website it says they are unable to contact the box!

All I am trying to find out is how to get a new sky box as that seems to be logical solution give all other avenues have been tried - is it that difficult for someone in the community to tell me how to do that?

@henry+daubeney   Sky Multiple Development Unit (MDU) trained engineers use an industry standard professional Televes H30 test meter to provide indisputable evidence of the performance of every one of the 58 satellite transponders that Sky presently use, so I find it hard to understand why this engineer did not follow the standard instructions to then email a PDF file of their test meter scan to you in order to allow you to accurately specify exactly what is wrong with the communal Integrated Reception System installation signal that is emerging from the wall mounted IRS distribution plate in your flat.

 

This information is not the personal opinion of any particular engineer, but an industry standard indisputable accurate measurement.

 

Signal Levels
o Fully data log all ports from the existing switch that will be used to provide
signal and ensure all pass.
o Check the signal levels are between 65dBuV and 85dBuV from the existing
switch.
o MER - >11 dB
o bBER - minimum- 2.00xE-4

 

If the loggers show fails there is nothing you can do to rectify the fault. Export the logger as a PDF file and send to the customer via email so they can speak to their Managing Agent (MA) so arrangements can be made to have the block serviced.

 

So, did this Sky engineer provide you with a comprehensive detailed analysis of the fault causing your problem, or just a vague verbal message that you were expected to pass on to your communal building management.

By calling Sky and asking for one?

 

Remember to remove your viewing card if the box is swapped.

I am just another Sky customer and my views are my own even if you don't like the answers

Hi Godfrey

 

he did not provide any analysis just said 'it was the building system that was causing the problem. Which the building engineer has confirmed is not the case as all other flats have no issue with Sky reception. 

I have tried to trace the engineer called Charles but interestingly there is no record of his visit on the tracking system when he clearly he did visit and met my wife and the building manager.  We waited 6 weeks for him and 8 weeks since fault we still do. Or have sky!

any help appreciated
