Sony TV randomly turns off and on when using sky q. Doesn't happen if using fire stick or casting. Very frustrating...any ideas from Sony TV owners?

Hi @sj150   Unless you have a loose lead the Sky Q box does not have a CEC command to turn off any TV. Turn on a TV yes, turn off no.

Hi @MightyQuinn , all connections are secure. I can be watching anything and TV just goes blank then after few seconds picture comes back. Never happens if I cast or use firestick... hence I think sky q box problem? Have a mini box in another room with another Sony TV which is grand 🙄

Hi @sj150

You could try temporarily moving the mini and connecting it to another HDMI socket on the main TV.

Put the main box into standby and see how the TV works with the mini

Hi@oldfella, that sounds like something worth trying... I'll give that a go tomorrow and let you know if it's worked 👍

Hi @oldfella ,

Tried what you suggested...moved mini box to TV, put main q box in standby and used mini box.

It worked perfectly, no TV going off and on!

I'm assuming it's a problem with main sky q box?

Thanks for suggestion👍

Hi @sj150

Make sure that the Standby mode is the same in all the Q boxes
If you haven't already try a Reset Settings in the main Q box hidden menu.

To enter hidden menu press Home and navigate down to Settings but do not select Settings.
With Settings highlighted press 0 0 1 Select.
Only Carry out the first Reset (Reset Settings) as the other two will wipe all recordings.
After the Reset you will have to re pair your Bluetooth remote If you use one.
If you cannot switch the Q box on with the remote after the Reset press the Standby button (Amber led) on the front of the box.
To re pair the remote press 1 & 3 together on the remote and follow onscreen instructions to re pair.

Make sure that you are pointing the remote at the Q box when you press 1 & 3 together.

Resetting the settings will also reset:

Audio visual settings, such as picture resolution and HDMI control
Settings changed within the hidden engineer menu, include LNB type. If on a communal dish you need to reset the LNB to SCR in the hidden menu. After changing the LNB type you need to reboot the Q box.
