My Sky Box keeps dropping of the WiFi...
Every day my Sky Box drops off the WiFi. It'll stay connected for a while, but then falls off. Then I have to reset it and put the passoword in all over again. Entering the password is really clunky too, such a bad design. I reset it everyday almost. NOTHING else in my house has this problem. Is my box faulty? Ironically, I have Sky Full Fibre too, but that seems stable. Frustrating as hell. Can anybody help?

Re: My Sky Box keeps dropping of the WiFi...
You can use the number pad like an old nokia phone sms type thing to accelerate the password input
but yeah the wifi is bad. I gave up on it.

I have a black one. I think it's SkyQ - is that right?

@kevlar3 there are 2 black ones the Q hub which sits like a Q box or the broadband hub which tstand upright but as you have one of these ones you should be connecting them to your Q box with the WPS buttons

Re: My Sky Box keeps dropping of the WiFi...
Ah I thought all Sky full fibre connections were on the new router which acts more like a 3rd party isp's. Apologies.

Re: My Sky Box keeps dropping of the WiFi...
No sorry, I have a white router and a black sky box. I also have a nest / wifi boosters. I connected my sky box to the router via WPS, but it was a right pain to do it, and when it did connect, it didn't stay connected. It's a bit too far away too, and i kept getting the spinny circle buffering thing even though i have 500mbs download speed. So I connected it to the nest instead and it till doesn't stay connected, There is something fundamentally wrong with that sky box. The TV connects on its own fine, and has stayed connected since I did it. It sits just above the sky box, so its the same distance away from all wifi connections. Doesn't anybody from SKY read these posts?

Not routinely. Have you thought of trying Powerline adapters?

Re: My Sky Box keeps dropping of the WiFi...
Yes, I had those 10 years ago! What year are we in now?! I should NOT have to buy extra equipment because SKY can't get thier **** together. It's WiFi... or rather it's SKY garbage. They really need to upgrade these boxes to modern standards. So basically, from that answer, I'm assuming there is no fix for it? If that's the case, I'm not paying for it. I'm going to call them (if i can get through) and tell them as such. Just rediculous. I'm so frustrated with this thing. Sorry for the rant, but we're in 2025. I've been a customer of thiers for 30+ years and that seems to mean nothing.

Re: My Sky Box keeps dropping of the WiFi...
@kevlar3 fully agree after many years as Sky Q user the same issues have been occurring at least twice a week a real pain especially running about resetting the mini as well.
Fully understand some people have no issues and give it large on cable but that's not the point clearly a problem with SkyQ, but they probably won't address it as Q is a dying item.
Been trying to find out if The Stream PUCK has connection issues without much luck, as would consider changing.

Same advice, why not try powerlines?

@Invisiblename yeh let's ignore the elephant in the room, the box has a bug and Sky aren't dealing with it. Why should the customer go to extra expense.

@kevlar3 wrote:@Ronj Exactly!
The Sky box has WiFi, it should work, it's what we pay for.
The Sky "WiFi" technology is ages old and no matter how much you complain, it is not going to be updated. It never could be 'one size fits all' and there are many circumstances where it just can't handle the particular environment of a house. If you don't want to invest in what is a fairly cheap solution, then feel free to request a contract cancellation.
