Sorry if this has been asked before. I'm getting to the end of my tether with Sky Broadband, constant dropouts, slow speeds and Mini boxes disconnecting. I have an engineer visit on Friday but, if they cant fix it, I'm going to leave but keep Sky Q short term.
My question is, if I move to, say, EE broadband, will I lose any funtionality or benefits by not being with Sky? Do Mini boxes still work as they are supposed to?

hi @KVet79
Yes the SKY Q mini boxes still have the same functionality
the key difference is that the mini box(es) will not use your Home wifi when it is another provider but instead use a wifi signal generated by the main box. (So this move is unlikely to help this)
Depending on location of the boxes this can lead to more connection problems - although an alternative is to connect them via ethernet (or Powerline adapters)
BTW I am with EE (previously BT) and no problems with my mini -(my main is connected to the router via ethernet as my prveious SKY HD box)

Hi @KVet79
Main difference with Sky Broadband and third party is , If usingWiFi then the main Q box can only connect to the 2.4 Ghz band. (With Sky Broadband it will use the 5Ghz)
Also minis and main Q box no longer automatically become WiFi hotspots for connecting other devices. Hotspots can be set up but most do not find it very successful.

@KVet79Are you sure that it is an issue with sky bb or the sky router rather than a line/connection issue. If it is a line issue and you move to EE you could have the same issues.

Thanks for all the replies.
I don't think it's a line issue. I'm getting the orange Talk light fail regularly. Sipped to my router is about 450, but I'm only getting 10-20 regularly on WiFi. Mini boxes don't connect so I cant see it being a problem with the line.
I've never understood PowerLine previously, might look into it.
