Moving Away from BT Broadband

Hi, I've got a stable setup with Q and three mini boxes using BTs Smart hub 2.

I use an ethernet cable from their mini disks to connect each Sky mini and thats a stable setup (finally!).

I pay far too much for BT and want to swap but I dont know what other suppliers do with getting Wifi into the whole house. That seemed to be one thing BT were good at.

I'd like to get ethernet into each room but I'm a way off that at the moment.

Some contenders are:

Virgin, Plusnet, Toob (although I hear there are issues with a shared IP and Sky themselves

I've yet to have 'the conversation' with BT to price match as I'm out of contract now.

I have used powerline in the past but for the life of me cant remember why i stopped using them!

I just wondered if others have gone down a similar path

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more

I abstracted my ISP by fronting it with my own mesh network (which gives your coverage).

However, Q's network doesn't play particularly nice.  As you've found out they won't stay connected to a mesh node without being connected to a node via Ethernet.  But I found some traffic issues when even doing this...

I'm now back to using Sky's own internal mesh for my mini's.

I am just another Sky customer and my views are my own even if you don't like the answers
