Most satellite channels are down
I see others have reported no satellite channels this evening and I have no satellite signal for many channels. For example Sky News was down at 10pm and BBC 1 failed recording at 10pm, and are still down, plus many other channels but ITV 1 is fine, as is 5HD and Sky Witness but Sky Showcase is down. This is on a Sky Q box.
I assume it may be weather related as we had thunderstorms but these are long gone.
I can't see any reported issues from Sky but clearly several people have reported being affected.

@RobG2 No satellite channels are down, if they were the community would be flooded with posts to the point the board would literally crash!
Signal issues tend to be dish or weather related.
Have you tried a reboot of your Sky Q box by unplugging it from the power and plugging back in.

If you mean on the forum I can only see 2 other posts on this board since yesterday (Thursday) evening reporting satellite signal issues out of the millions of Sky Q subscribers so in the grand scheme of things a very very low number.
If you’re seeing a “no satellite signal” message check that the connections from the Sky dish going into the back of your Sky Q box are still finger tight. Otherwise it’s very likely a dish misalignment or possibly a failing LNB (on the arm of the dish) so check the troubleshooting on this link
https://www.sky.com/help/articles/sky-tv-no-satellite-signal-sky-q
It may then give you the opportunity to arrange an engineer to check the alignment of your dish. If it doesn’t you’ll need to contact Sky to book an engineer appointment.
If you are connected to a communal dish you need to liaise directly with your building management company / landlord who will have their approved engineers to contact.
It’s worth noting that:
▪️ a misalignment is not necessarily something that will be visible to the naked eye and could only affect one or two channels
▪️ a Sky Q box requires a periodic 'Keep alive' signal that is delivered via the satellite so if that isn’t received the box will close down until the satellite signal is restored.

Re: Most satellite channels are down
Well all channels are back this morning so very unlikely it was due to dish alignment, SkyQbox or loose connections. However if it was atmospheric conditions (thunderstorms earlier in the evening) then I would have expected all channels to have been affected.

hi @RobG2
If you had lots of channels down but not all then as you say, unlikely to be cloud but it is possible that you have water ingress or similar (or just a bad connection) in one of your cables
Each cable carries the different polarisations - although your channels may be different due to variations a few that I have checked that you said were problematical seem to be Vertically polarised and others working Horizontal

Re: Most satellite channels are down
I also had a few seconds of pixelation on Sky News last night around 22:00 which then reported a loss of satellite signal for around 10 seconds in two periods within around three minutes, then the Sky News transponder signal returned to normal.
During this short period, I could receive multiple other satellite news channels without any problem, but not Sky News.
As not all channels are uplinked from the same geographical position, I thought that it could have been the uplink for Sky news having to pass through intense storm clouds for this short period.
A check scan of all the satellite transponders that I can receive reveals a typical performance within around +/- 0.2 dB this afternoon from my dish.
Godfrey.
