Missed out on two months complimentary sky sports HD

I am feeling really miffed. I can’t afford to have sky sports HD, so I was over the moon when an agent phoned and offered me two months free trial, and it would cover the American Open Tennis, later this month.  A week later my internet went down for about six hours. Following this my WiFi connection wouldn't hold, and I couldn’t stream anything or watch anything for much longer than 15 minutes or up to very few hours.
Sky did everything over the next three weeks to sort it out, and it finally was last Wednesday.  In the meantime I had received an email asking me if I wanted to subscribe to sport or cancel. Apart from the fact that I hadn’t been able to watch anything, it was only a month after the initial offer. So I felt I had no choice but to cancel.  Now that the WiFi is sorted, I asked if I could have the two months free sports from today, but they have said no, I will have to pay for it!
BTW, when the engineer attended my home he told me that I didn’t need to stream the sport as it was on my TV guide and everything on my guide was available to watch. This is completely untrue.
I feel so disappointed that my one chance of watching the tennis has been missed........

The cancellation period is 31 days.  You should still have access during this period.

I am just another Sky customer and my views are my own even if you don't like the answers

Are you on Sky Stream?

also do you not have email on your phone? I know it's too late for that now but that's always my backup if there's a wifi issue.

Re: Missed out on two months complimentary sky sports HD

Thank you PandJ2020.  They gave me two months free, which should have ended in September, but they actually only gave me one month, and with no WiFi, I only got to see a weeks worth.  The one month ends today, and I cancelled as I didn't want to risk them adding it to my account.  It was cancelled by them before today. What I wanted it for was the American open tennis which doesn't start until the 18th, so the two months would have been perfect.

Thank you Chodley.  No I am not on Sky stream.  Not sure what that is. I am retired and try to keep to basics on costly items, which was why I wanted the two free months.  I couldn't watch on my phone it’s too small and the battery life would be a problem.

Why do you need wifi to watch? Is this stuff which isn't on the main TV guide but on sky sports+ ?

Hi. I can now watch free to stream as the WiFi is fixed.    Channels like ITVX or BBC IPlayer.

Sky sport is subscription only.

Yes but most Sky Sports content is on live channels on the TV Guide delivered over satellite. Whether wifi works or not is irrelevant to being able to use that.

There is some sports content you can only get via the Sports+ app which is streamed and would be affected but to say "I couldn't use sky sports because the wifi wasn't working" doesn't really seem right.

Re: Missed out on two months complimentary sky sports HD

Thanks again.

Not a good morning.  The engineer said that I couldn’t get WiFi, because of my printer, I had done nothing to my printer and everything worked perfectly until the drop out for six hours due to a BT fault, at the end of July .  He said to disconnect it. I did and reinstalled and until now it has been working ok. A total of three days.  This morning no Internet connection again.  The other WiFi devices in the house, are working fine.
Anyway, I have checked my TV guide and I can’t look at any of the sports channels, they all say that I need to subscribe. I think I am about ready to give up.  Thanks for your guidance it is appreciated.
