Mini box doesn’t connect until main Q box activated in the morning

Each morning I try to turn my tv on in the bedroom via the sky mini box. It always comes up saying it cannot connect to the main sky Q box. So I have to go downstairs and turn the main box on, let it start up, then go back upstairs and it'll be connected fine with the mini box. This only happens first thing in the morning throughout the day is fine but is defeating the object of not having to get up each morning and going downstairs. It feels like the main box does an update each night and until the main box has been turned on the mini will not connect. The mini box connects fine all day and evening no problems as long as the main box has been turned on once that day. Very frustrating!!!

The mini needs the main box of course but the main box should come back to normal standby mode each night after its refresh cycle around 2AM. The fact it isn't until you turn it on is weird. I assume you are leaving it powered on at the wall, from your description.

could try changing the eco mode on the main Q so it doesn't go into deep sleep.

Hi - yeah I leave everything powered on all the time. I just don't get it at all! My memory is terrible but I think I've even tried the no sleep mode as well. What is it you mentioned about the 2am thing? That would make sense with the time as it's fine all day until the morning?

It really sounds like this refresh cycle on the main box could be the issue as when I turn the main box on in the morning I often get the message ' your screen will go blank....." and then it's all ok but I don't want to have to turn the main box on every morning to activate the mini box uostairs

What is happening is your Main Sky Q box is going into the recommended eco mode overnight.

This is a default Sky Q box setting to allow the box to consume  less energy by going into low power mode between 2.30am and 5:45am. It won’t go into this mode until any scheduled recordings are complete.

The Sky Q mini, needs the Sky Q Main box to be out of that eco mode to work.

If you regularly watch TV on a mini before that 5:45 am time and do not want to go down to your Sky Q Main box every morning to bring it out of that mode before 5:45 am, your best bet is to change your Sky Q Main box standby setting to Active instead of Eco.

To change your standby settings:

1. Press Home on your Sky Q remote and select Settings, then Setup.
2. Select Preferences, followed by Standby mode and select the setting you want.

That should happen automatically when it does its thing. The fact it isn't waking up again properly suggests some kind of issue.
