Maximum number of recordings

I have sky Q with 2TB box and a mini. I have trawled the internet and I see conflicting information.

i have sky Q box to record maximum of 6 programmes. My query is around UHD recordings. Some info says I can only record 1 UHD whilst another says I can record 2. When I try to record x2 UHD programmes, 1 fails but at the time I also have an HD programme also set to record. Some info says what is the definitive answer.

Hi @doc-ab

UHD recordings depend on what you are recording.

The Sports UHD channels (Ch 401 and 406) should be able to be recorded simultaneously as part of the 6 available recordings.

Re: Maximum number of recordings

The question was how many UHD channels can you record at the same time. The reason I ask is that I am having a few issues with my sky q box so don't know if recording issue is with my box or a sky limitation ie x1 uhd or x2. Along with UHD how many other channels can be recorded at the same time?

Did you read my post @doc-ab ???

Just to be clear there are only the two UHD channels.  (No others)

Re: Maximum number of recordings

I also have TNT that has a UHD channel and I certainly can't record 401 sky sports main event and TNT ultimate. I also when the F1 was on tried to record football on 401 and sky F1 uhd which I believe was 406 and that didn't work. Trying to work out if that is a sky limitation or whether I have issues with my box as I do have a few other issues with it.

Ok @doc-ab

If you have TNT Sports then yes there is a further UHD channel.

You will only be able to record two out of these three.   There will still be four HD channels that you can record assuming you have record 6 set it settings.

Re: Maximum number of recordings

So I have tried to record x2 UHD  channels. One is recorded and plays back fine, the other is partially recorded but won't play back at all despite showing as using 13.1gb of disk space.

Hi @doc-ab

Tried yesterday and two is OK.

Try to record another and you get get a message saying you reached the max UHD for that slot and so two should be possible and is the limit.

Whatbis your Disc space in Recordings - Manage?

Re: Maximum number of recordings

75% disk space free in the 2TB box so it's not lack of space

Re: Maximum number of recordings

Recordings stopped completely. So tried power cycle - no joy, tried a reset - no joy so resorted to a hard drive reset - all fixed will see how long it lasts.
