Lack of ability to freeze payments whilst on a long holiday. Paying £ 200 for nothing

I shall be away from home (and I live alone) for approx. 2 months. During this time my television (and Sky box) will be unplugged and not, therefore , being used.

During this time I will be charged by Sky just short of £200 Doesn't seem fair that there is no mechanism in place to pause my subscription.

I am told this is the case.

During my conversation with the Sky operative I suggested that perhaps my contract could be extended by 2 months at no extra charge. This of course would not really cost Sky very much and would solve the problem.

I do feel pretty aggrieved by this when I have - incidentally - been a Sky subscriber since January 2000

@jm262

Sky don't / won't pause subscriptions. You don't see water companies pausing payments when you're not there using the supply.

@jm262 I don't get why your aggrieved, I don't know of any provider that offer long term contracts that would allow you to pause/freeze an account and payment because your choosing to go on a long holiday, they simply don't work that way.

I'm curious to know if you've managed to convince your energy providers to suspend their standing charges while you're away. Oh, and is your local council suspending their Council Tax charges for the 2 months?
