Re: LG G4: Random no sound/black screen flicker

For the TV yes, OLED65G45LW

Installed the update, switched TV off and back on again. Hasn't had a sound dropout since..  (Only been about 3 hours so far, but last night for example, I was getting sound dropouts every couple of minutes watching the news!)

I've asked the engineers to try and find out if the latest firmware is meant to have fixed sound dropouts, as I can't find any release notes online..  no point them replacing the mainboard of the TV if the firmware fixed it..

Be interested to see if it works for you - I've just had to cancel my repair as I want to soak test it for a while  and get a chance to see if the firmware update has really fixed it..  I'll post back here if the dropout happens again.

@Simonb73 How is it looking? Do you think it's fixed it for you? I'm still without any dropout now for 24 hours or so..

Re: LG G4: Random no sound/black screen flicker

Hi there

I haven't done it yet. Mine has been fine since I reset it after the last update. I want to see what this new update does to others before I install it. I am watching a thread on AV forums and this one for feedback 👍

Re: LG G4: Random no sound/black screen flicker

Just came across this as I have purchased an LG G4 65 inch wall mounted oled tv, and I am having problem with screen going black for a second or 2 and also sound is dropping out when watching uhd content. I have the new software update which I installed yesterday and thought it would solve the problems but I don't think it has. New version is 23.21.51, this evening it has been blinking the black screen and also sound dropout seems worse than the last software version. I am within 30 days so may return but I am also seeing problems on many other tv brands, so has to be a Sky problem.

Re: LG G4: Random no sound/black screen flicker

I believe LG have acknowledged the fault and are working on a fix (for about 10 months now)

I swapped my G4 for a G5 and there are no sound dropouts however sky still fails to launch now and again

Re: LG G4: Random no sound/black screen flicker

Try starting sky first ,sound bar 2nd ,TV should start on its own ,use 8k leads when possible, that removed a issue between tv and dvd player, i sent my LG back, now have a Sony bravia huge improvement., only issue is how to get a headphone connection.

LG have been advising retailers to refund some owners of G4's stating this audio dropouts are unfixable https://www.avforums.com/threads/intermittent-sound-dropouts-on-lg-g4-65-inch-tv-need-advice.2503066...

Re: LG G4: Random no sound/black screen flicker

I follow that same thread and missed that info. Certainly the last few pages do not suggest that's the case in fact some saying the latest firmware update has helped.

Anyway I'm on to a G5 now, so far and I reiterate so far no drop outs but I remain vigilant 😜

Re: LG G4: Random no sound/black screen flicker

Hi, everyone - I received my new 55 inch LG G5 last Saturday from Richer Sounds, after having had a 55 inch LG G4 for about a year now. I suffered from the black screen drop out and intermittent sound drops using a Sky Q box (and occasionally via my 4K Apple TV) with my G4 panel; the only way I can keep the issue at bay is to unplug the TV every night before bed. I can confirm that my G5 initially also had the same intermittent issues whilst using Sky TV.

I reset the G5 last Sunday morning as advised in another forum. Touch wood - it has been fine ever since. Probably jinxing myself by posting this message. In do hope a subsequent LG software update doesn’t see the problem reappear!

Re: LG G4: Random no sound/black screen flicker

For what its worth, I too have this problem. However it didn't exist with my LG C1 55". That served me 4 faultless years

So the only thing that has changed is the LG G4 55"

It seems on this thread and on other forums that Sky box, cables etc are being changed. Boards being replaced, with old original firmware etc.

Has anyone any technical thought on what it is that the LG G series TV's has over the previous models embedded in the firmware?

Re: LG G4: Random no sound/black screen flicker

Just an update,   I have updated the software on the TV LG G4 83 inch Screen and the SKY Q box.  No issues with dropped audio. However having intermittent problems with turning on or connecting the Sky Q Box.

Re: LG G4: Random no sound/black screen flicker

100%

When I got my G5 I thought it had solved all my issues. I had no sound dropouts and sky loaded everything even on quick start.

Since the latest update ending in .80 I have had to switch quick start of to get Sky to load. 😫
