It keeps asking for my pin on a lot of programmes, but i switched off the pin on settings?

I've switched off the pin on all 4 options under parental settings & I still get asked for my pin on a lot of programmes - what else can I do as I don't want to keep entering a pin for tv shows/films? Thanks

In some instances and times of day it's mandatory. See this previous thread.

Change your PIN to something simple like '1111' - then it's VERY little hassle

For a channel carrying post watershed content before 21:00 (Sky Atlantic and several Cinema channels being the main ones) the Mandatory Daytime Protection setting is not negotiable: it's having MDP which permits broadcast without incurring a massive Ofcom fine in the first place.

Yeah it's Offcom ruling, can't do anything about it.

Strictly speaking it's Ofcom enforcing the Broadcasting Code, which is based on parliamentary legislation.  'Taste and Decency' and 'Protection of Children' have been matters of concern for legislators since media was invented.

Get your MP on the case to change legislation.

Not a technology issue, it's a UK law issue

Hi @maelstromv   I use 0000. If you are looking to change it, I recommend lobbying your MP.

Mine's slightly more complicated than that: 1111 😉

Yes, because during the moral panic and tabloid* frenzy surrounding the arrival of 'foreign owned' satellite television, the fear was that children visiting a Sky household might be exposed to corrupting influences beamed from space.

These days we let the internet take care of corruption at home instead, but somehow this wasn't such a concern in the late 1980s....

Press Home on Sky control. Go to settings. Parental Control, click, enter your pin and turn off everything. This way you won't br asked for a pin when you go to certain channels
