Issues with main Sky Q box (and therefore the two minis) not connecting

Over the last few weeks, our SkyQ main box works absolutely fine but the other two Sky mini boxes say that there is a technical fault and that they are unable to connect to the main SkyQ box.  We have a booster for both our internet and our sky mini box.  This is incredibly frustrating and would really like a resolution to this problem.  Trying to get hold of sky on the phone is also very frustrating! 😞

Who is your broadband supplier?
Are your Boosters Sky Q WiFi boosters and where are they located?

My Internet provider is BT

I have had Sky Q for over four years and over the last few weeks, the problem has occurred.  Both the BT booster and the Sky Booster are in the same place as they have always been and I have never experienced this problem before up until now.

One is a BT booster and one is a Sky booster.  These were located by both individual engineers when they came to sort out the SkyQ and BT at the same time.

Main difficulty I can see is that the BT WiFi and BT Booster will be interfering with the Sky Q WiFi mesh.

The Q minis will only connect to WiFi from the main Q box a Q booster or another connected mini.

Assuming the Sky booster Is a sky Q WiFi booster then it can be used to connect Q devices.

If you have issues with the main Q box and cannot connect it by Ethernet to your router one thing you can try is to connect the Sky Q booster by a shortish Ethernet lead to your router.

You can then use WPS on the booster following a Network reset on the main Q box.

Network Reset found in Q box Home - Settings - Setup - Network.
Highlight Status and then select Reset on the right hand side. Follow instructions to connect by WiFi to Sky router (in your case this will be the Q booster)
You will be asked to press the WPS button on the Booster. (Not on the Q box as the Network reset will start the main Q box WPS automatically).

This may give you a better performance on the main Q box.

You will still have the issue of cross interference from your BT WiFi and you could see if this is alleviated by switching off the BT Booster.

If you can get the main Q box running more reliably then you can carry out Networks resets on the minis.

Start with the one nearest to your main Q box or the Q booster.

Carry out WPS on the nearest Q device.
