Re: Issue with Sky Q UHD picture
The bit I don't understand is that the issue comes and goes. It works sometimes. I could understand if it was continuously a problem, but it's happy sometimes! Strange.

Re: Issue with Sky Q UHD picture
If there is anyone browsing this page who has an LG OLED TV and Sky Q who does NOT have this problem would be good to know your hardware type /version. Not sure whether there is any practical difference but helpful nevertheless to see if any patterns

Re: Issue with Sky Q UHD picture
I just purchased an OLED LG TV,
oled48c34la, and I have a different though related problem.
The UHD resolution is 8bit and I have no option for 10bit.
My Sky Q box doesn't appear to recognize the 10bit so there is no discernible difference in UHD channel from normal HD.
Very different from Samsung UHD 4K tv I had and when you switched between UHD and HD.
Any advice as to how I can get SKY Q box to recognize/connect to 10 bit signal?
Thanks

@lodge2000 you need to go into the menu on your lg tv and turn on the hdmi ultra hd deep color for the hdmi that you have the q box connected to this should then bring the 10bit option up
I may be a Sky Superuser but I am still just a Sky customer

Re: Issue with Sky Q UHD picture
Thanks.
I checked that and it says HDMI 1 for Deep Colour is on 4K.
The SKY box is plugged into HDMI 1.

UHD still has a tonne more detail (4x the resolution) than HD. 10bit increases the colour range/detail, which does matter a lot too.

Re: Issue with Sky Q UHD picture
Yes I know but for some reason by TV won't pick up 10bit on SKY Q box but does on my Apple TV box.
Grateful for any other suggestions to fix this issue? Should I contact Sky or LG?

Re: Issue with Sky Q UHD picture
Are you sure your Sky Q box has ever supported 10 bit? Some of the older Sky Q may have not. Assume you've check both Sky Q and TV have up to date firmware?

Re: Issue with Sky Q UHD picture
Check what version of Sky Q box you have. Early 2TB V1 boxes are not HDR compatible. You need V2 (seperate power supply) or a V3 box for HDR (10bit) to work.
Sky Q 2Tb HDR
Mini Box
Sky Superfast Broadband

Thanks I solved the issue!
I just had to change out of the Ultra HD 8-bit setting and switch to a lower setting and then switch back where the offered me to chose Ultra HD 10-Bit.
A simple problem solved 🙂
Thanks for other comments of assistance.

Re: Issue with Sky Q UHD picture
Hello. I have an LG G4 OLED TV. My hardware is SKY Q 1TB UHD HDR box hardware version 32B206. Software version Q300.000.06.00L (5yzv4ns).
I am having no picture quality issues. Sky UHD HDR content works perfectly on my LG TV. The Sky box is on 2160p 10-bit.
Try isolation testing the picture issue. This might help you to work out which component is causing the issue you are having.
Check the status of the satellite signal, restart the box and TV, determine if the issue is present on more than just broadcast channels, see what happens with downloaded content from the Sky Box (which includes UHD HDR content), try the TV with a different input. For example, a 4K disc player or digital terrestrial, or LG TV content from their ecosystem.
General fixes include changing the cable to another certified cable, trying a different HDMI port on the TV, make sure the HDMI cable is firmly connected to the devices.
Hopefully, these steps might help you trace or resolve the problem.

Re: Issue with Sky Q UHD picture
My apologies. You are spot on. It is 3 months ago. I just read the topic author first post and did a reply. I did this because the post is not marked as 'answered'. Thank you for that, and I will analyze more details of each post that I respond to in the future.
