Implication of BT moving to digital only phone networks.

By the end of 2025 BT will end the use of analogue phone lines, which will be replaced by digital only lines. New phone equipment will be needed, so will new sky devices be needed for those that connect to a phone line? If so, who pays for this?

In the very early days of Sky their boxes did connect to the phone line. However, the purpose for this has long since been discontinued. So, even if you have one of these very early Sky boxes, I am positive that the phone connection on the box is no longer in use anyway and any changes with BT are irrelevant.

My question is, will we be able to use any ip phone and does that mean we can only use a Sky hub and not a 3rd party one,?

No, an IP phone won't work with Sky VOIP. You would need a standard corded or cordless phone. The only connection to Sky's VOIP service is via the phone socket at the back of the Sky Broadband Hub.

You need to plug a standard corded/cordless phone into the Sky hub regardless, if you need/want a 3rd party hub for better WiFi perhaps you can turn off the Sky hub WiFi and plug the 3rd party router into a Sky lan port.
