If I select a channel the screen goes black and says technical fault

It won't record programs, if I select a channel off the home page the screen goes black and it says technical fault

Thank you for your help and advice, maybe you need a job as a sky engineer because you were more help than the gentleman on the phone, he told me he'd booked an engineer for me for Sunday, 5 days that would of been without the sky, after your help that worked,  I rang them to cancel the engineer and he hadn't even booked one, absolutely disgusting customer service to say I'm fuming is an understatement, so thank you so much for your advice
