I was pushed into changing to SKY Q by an agent when I rang to change my bank details

I rang to change my bank details for direct debit and the agent really pushed me into changing to SKY Q. We had previously had an expensive system set up around the house from Hugh's and could watch the same programs on tv in kitchen, lounge & bedroom. The agent insisted sky Q  was the same and there was no extra charge. Our box was working ok but the agent said they were discontinued. I fear we will be charged multimroom fees when my current agreement ends. The engineer set up the sky Q boxes and took away all our equipment including our own free view box with our agreement as he said it was no use to us with the new Q boxes. We have found the sky Q system very hard to use, it is completely different to our old sky box system and impossible for my husband to work as he has dementia.....he could use the old system ok. It is certainly not the same as has to be individually set up in each room to watch, ie if I had tv on in kitchen and husband was watching in lounge I could skip the adverts from kitchen for both of us....now the rooms run separately. There is no longer a 'planner' you go into recordings but much harder to sort out from there. Before you could keep your finger on the fast forward to shoot to end of programme but not able to that with Q.  Some of the recordings don't start at the beginning as have already started. If I have watched a program and it is at end of recording but I want to play it again for my husband I can't get it to go back to,the beginning without holding down rewind. The engineer connected us to SKY cinema, he said it would be free for a month and then we would get an email to say we would start to be charged and could then cancel. I realised a month was up but I hadn't had an email so went into my account and they are billing me £6 a month for something I haven't used and can't get taken off my account. I have tried to remove it on sky.com but not possible and sky offices closed over Christmas holiday according to phone message. Feel very cheated as system seems archaic to what we had and I can't leave my husband watching tv if I want to pop to shops as he can't work it now. The on/off button is on other side of the remote to our last one so we (especially my husband) press the source button sometimes by mistake. There doesn't seem anybody that you can discuss these problems with.

@Norma+Lambert

Some people do find the transition from Sky+ to Sky Q difficult at first. They are differences of course. One of the other Superusers @nigea99 has created a link to help customers thinking of upgrading to Sky Q which you may benefit from reading as well, which he won't mind me sharing.

SKY +/HD to SKY Q

Unfortunately you won't be able to revert back to Sky+ as Sky no longer offer this system or support its maintenance.

Regarding Sky Cinema, you will have to call Sky to cancel it giving the standard 31 days notice. We have been informed that the phone lines will be open:
New Years Eve ~ 0900 til 1800
New Years Day ~ 0800 til 2100

Regarding the reatarting from the beginning, or fast forwarding trhough adverts, the voice button is very useful. You have to hold it down.

You can get hdmi devices which could distribute the signal to multiple rooms so one box is displayed everywhere. You could then cancel multiroom (at the end of any contract commitment although I feel you have a case to say you were missold) - I don't know what Hugh's is - is that an AV specialist? They should be able to help there.

I wouldn't say it's archaic, there are some much nicer capabilities than SkyHD.

The fact the engineer took your freeview box is a bit of an outrage. Of course it would still have been useful. I would raise a complaint about that.

@Norma+Lambert Unfortunately you've been talked into changing to a system that you neither wanted or needed.

You should have grounds for complaint on a number of the points that you have raised.

However, I don't see a scenario where you will get your old Sky+HD box back unfortunately.

You could have change these details via the MySky app on a mobile device or online, both of which would have meant you would not have needed to phone Sky and should you call as you did you should never agree to something that you are not completely happy about.

@Norma+Lambert   A typical method of restoring the ability to create a modulated digital UHF signal for distribution to remote televisions from the HDMI signal emerging from a Sky Q receiver.

This would restore your ability to distribute the HD Sky Q channel that you were watching to other televisions throughout your property.

Re: I was pushed into changing to SKY Q by an agent when I rang to change my bank details

Thank you for your reply. I did try to remove SKY cinema on the SKY.com app after going into my account but although I spent over an hour trying there was no way I could take the 'cinema' bit off, I went into every section. I have managed to get through to SKY. The call went through to India but I was transferred to somebody working from home.....she told me there was a glitch with the system and although it should have been free for two months  some people are being charged after a month and there is no system to sent an email as the engineer told us....she also said it is NOT  possible to remove sky cinema on the app you have to phone them. I have asked them to listen to the call when I was told SKY Q was the same as Sky+ HD and that there was no extra charge but that is incorrect as sky will charge a multi room charged. I have asked them to listened to the call and send me a recording if the call.
