I've recently installed fibre broadband and my sky programmes work well on my main box however I cannot get my mini boxes to connect even following the advice on "fixing a problem". It seems that the mini boxes cannot now find the main unit

Thanks for this response Old Fella but I hae tried all this before to no avail. I think this is something to do with fibre optics so am trying to sort through the broadband supplier.

Hi @BrucieC
First try rebooting the main Q box and then when this is completely back up and running reboot the mini.
To reboot press Standby on your Sky Q remote (if the box responds to the remote), and then switch off and unplug at the mains.
Wait at least 30 secs and then Plug back in and switch your Sky Q box back on at the mains.
Wait for the on screen instructions to disappear and the front led to turn Amber. Then wait for 30 secs before you press Home on your Sky Q remote or if this is not working press the standby button on the front of the Q box (Amber led)
note: some features may take up to 5 minutes to return.
Reboot the mini as above.
If the mini still does not connect try a Network Reset on the mini.
Network Reset found in mini Home - Settings - Setup - Network.
Highlight Status and then select Reset on the right hand side. Follow instructions to WPS with main Q box.
You will be asked to press the WPS button on the main Q box (not the mini as the Network reset will start the mini WPS automatically).
If you are on Sky Broadband and the Router is nearer to the mini than the main box then you can try pressing WPS on the router instead of the main Q box

Thanks for your reply. I have tried what you say but still not connecting. To give a fuller picture of what is happening I switched broadband from Sky FTTC to City Fiber FTTP. Sky Q box will not connect to the Sky mini box when using City Fiber FTTP (full fiber) ,everything else in the house connects perfectly, but when I switch back to Sky Broadband all is OK again.
I have spoken to Sky and after running through the usual "fixes" to solve a problem still no connection. So I am having a Sky engineer visit next Wednesday which hopefuly fix the problem.
Will keep you posted.

@frudy1 you are aware that when Sky is not your broadband provider your main box oly connedcts to your 3rd part router on 2.4Ghz but more importantly the mini boxes only connect directly to your main box by way of a mesh created by the main box and dont use your wifi. As you have an engineer coming out it may be that they willinstall a booster to help connect your mini to your main box
With Sky as your broadband provider then the rSky router forms part of the mesh so the mini box does use you home wifi

Laing1,
Thanks for your reply and explanation. Would any Booster work or must it be a Sky model. I will no doubt find out when the engineer visits.
Will let you know the outcome.

@frudy1 it need to be a Sky booster which if needed the engineer will fit free of charge

Problem solved
I had the router for newle connected FTTP running alongside the existing Sky FTTC both powered on. I disconected the Sky router and then ran through the installation process for the connection to th Qbox and then the Mini box. This time it connected immediately.
Perhapse a basic mistake on my part but could be useful information mation for someone in the same position as I was.
