I got a new SKy Q box but despite being told my recording would NOT dissapear they have all gone :-(
How can I get them back? I was told they would NOT go but they all have 😞 There must be a way to get them back.

Hi @LouiseBbr Your recordings are stored on your old box hard drive. You have lost them for ever unless they are on catchup or on demand.

No, you either misunderstood or you were misinformed. All recordings were stored on the hard drive of the box and are lost. Of course you can still get any films purchased from Sky Store.

I would always make it clear that the recordings were not to be lost as there is stuff on it that is no longer available anywhere. But thanks for replying

@LouiseBbr If you're that annoyed at being misinformed you could raise a formal complaint via the Complaints option in the forum footer?
You won't get your recordings back but Sky might give you money off your TV bill as an apology. I say might, that's not a promise from me!

Sadly, many customer service operatives have no clue whatsoever about how Sky's products actually function. This is particularly the case if you speak to someone at an overseas call centre.
They normally read from a script and can often misinterpret what a customer is asking. In these circumstances there's not a lot you can do.
If you are unsure about any part of your Sky subscription then it's often wise to come on this forum and ask questions prior to contacting Sky. Most folk on here have a better idea about the intricacies of Sky's services than most of the call centre staff.

@LouiseBbr What were the circumstances in getting the box replaced? Was it an upgrade or were you having issues with your old box?

The recordings are literally physically inside the box.
Apple and Google have a lot to answer for with their seamless cloud backups & device upgrades/migrations lulling us into a false sense of security 🙂
