I am now on my FIFTH at box. Over heating seems to be the issue ????

Over the last five months I've had three engineers and five new Sky Q boxes. The issue seems to be overheating as the fan has been turned on and making a noise. When I turn on TV there is no signal.
To rectify the problem I have to turn the power off, wait about a minute, turn on and then it works. !!!!!  All cables, power leads etc have been changed. Once the engineer has set it all up with a new box he assures me everything is fine and he's never had this problem. So why is this happening? Any suggestions. Hope this makes sense ?

Does the box have sufficient airflow around it?  (Not in a tight cupboard for example)

If it is anything like the issue I had, the box isn't overheating, something else is causing it to freeze and the fan comes on, usually when in standby.

Who is your broadband with out of interest?

Edited to add: I suspect you may be experiencing what others have in this thread.

I had to move from BT to EE. Been with BT for years but they've sold to EE and now locked into a now,  18 month contract !!! Seems lots of people are having the same problem.

Yep, I wouldn't be surprised if that is actually 24 months, not 18.

Check out this thread, some people have been able to mitigate the issue but it isn't consistent and doesn't affect everyone. I haven't had the issue for a while now personally.

I did the same switch & have had no problems, so may not be the underlying reason for your issue.

BT Group has owned EE Ltd since 2016 (an acquisition which required a CMA enquiry)

They are finally getting around to migrating domestic customers from BT to EE branded service with the apparent aim of keeping BT as the badge for business products.

Yes there's plenty of air around the box.

It is a fairly common problem though. There's something going on there. Q box version might be a factor? Dunno.
