Regarding recordings, I am not aware of any non voice methods of specifically jumping to any given point, however, if you bring up the timebar (by pressing an up / down arrow for example, then presing & holding the left / right arrow keys (the ones eiether side of the Select button) gradually gains speed until you can quickly move through
