How to get temporary Sky Q box until mine comes out of storage?

We've recently had a massive leak at home and basically everything got put into storage while they cleaned the property. We have managed to move back in upstairs but we can't get our Sky Q box back as all downstairs is still in storage. I've tried to get a replacement Sky Q box twice but each time it arrives they want the old one to take back which I don't have until I get my furniture back downstairs. I'm taking this isn't possible? Now I'm receiving letters saying equipment has been lost or stolen and I'm going to be charged! The lady the second time said she would try and send it from a back office to stop the courier wanting to take one back and to then send my old one back when I get it. Frustrating.

@Huntyyy79

There's almost certainly no good mechanism for doing so.

Also note that obtaining a Q box from anywhere else won't work.

Unfortunately that's probably a direct consequence of whatever they did.  It's possible that paying the non-return fee now will enable a new one to be sent, and then returning the previous box when you recover it will result in the fee being refunded, but that's certainly not risk-free.

Apparently they don't do that anymore. They could have told me this first time I rang and asked. So I'm paying for Sky and multi room only to be able to watch it on my iPad. Great.

@Huntyyy79 can you not ask the storage company if you can get the Q box back.

As sky own the Q boxes it is highly unlikely you would ever be sent a second main box without returning your original box

@Laing1 We've tried this but they won't unless we pay a ridiculous fee. Plus it's 3 hours from where we live so it's not like I can just nip there to have a look myself.

@Huntyyy79 I feel for you i know what storage/removal companies are like.

I remember when I moved from Edinburgh to Devon the well know company I used

was to pick up all my stuff and I was told it would be moved to Devon and put into storage until I needed it. They also told me that if I needed anything then I could contact them and they would arrange for me to be able to go get it.

When I contacted them to say I needed something the reply I got was oh but your stuff is still in Edinburgh when I pointed out the cluse about asking to get stuff that was in my contract with them they then countered with another clause that stated they had the right to store my possession at any of their storage facilities in the uk
