I was watching a program on my Sky Q box then pressed home to find something else to watch. I went to Netflix and other menus, but never actually watched anything, but when I come back to the main home page the program I was watching starts playing from where I left off.
How do I stop it doing this?
I also suspect it might be why we find episodes with the blue 'viewed' bar further along than we had actually watched. I think it plays to itself in the Mini TV window.
Any help appreciated.

For the beneift of others.
It seems when watching a recording or download you should press the Back-up button to return to Live-Tv before pressing Home for the menu otherwise your program will continue to play in the Mini TV window if you go to another app like Netflix then return with the Home button.
Retraining myself to use the Back-up button not Home button. Feels like a design flaw to me but apparantly its not.

hi @iwaddo
Personally I prefer it the way it works.
This way whilst watching a recording I can navigate via the Home page to check The TvGuide etc - although I appreciate not everyone will feel so
Hopefully it will soon become second nature for you

OK, but what I fail to understand is why, under what circumstances would I want the recording or download I was watching, and perhaps only half way through, to play in the Mini TV window?
I cannot think of a single use case where this makes any sense.

Makes sense to me I might not want to press the backup button to cancel watching the recorded programme and then having to navigate back to recordings just to find my programme in the continue watching section but each too their own I guess.

OK, I get holding the recording or download in the Mini TV for me to return too, but I cannot image wanting it to start playing in the Mini TV.
If I am not returning to the recording or episode at that moment I have to then work out how to stop it and if I am going to watch it again straightaway we usually have to rewind a little becuase we've missed a bit.

As your reply you marked as answer the correct way of stopping is to use the Back/Dismiss button.
The Home button does not interupt the currently viewed channel/recording.
I think you will get used to it
As I have said I quite like the behaviour - for example yesterday I was watching Ted's Notebook and wanted to check a recording I had set - I was able to check this without interupting my recording (in this case being primarily what he is saying rather than watching but I could watch in the mini screen)

Hopefully I will.
the back button it is then....
I'm just surprised that it passed user testing, but we are all different 🙂
