Ah, right. The only thing less painful then trying to call Sky is to get onto the chat/messenger service. You will talk to the bot for a while then a real agent. In doing this you can clearly show you have gone through all steps and the problem was not solved. In doing this over messaging where it is documented in full approval for a replacement remote should be faster and if it still does not work you will have a history of the process. Get a case reference number and take it from there - good luck 🤞

Re: How do I get my sky Q remote to turn off and on my TV
Try this.....
- Press Home on your Sky Q remote.
- Select Settings > Setup > Remote Control.
- Select the remote you're using.
- Select Control your TV then select your TV brand.
- Select Find it for me.
- Hold down 1 and 3 together, and enter the code that appears.

Re: How do I get my sky Q remote to turn off and on my TV
Today I received and installed a replacement Sky Q box. It's working fine so I want to pair the new remote with my LG TV. I've read all the Help articles and suggestions for doing this, but when I follow the steps set out in this thread, I'm not presented with the options 4 and 5. My TV screen goes straight to an instruction to press and hold 1 and 3, which I've done over and over again without success. I'm not being given the Control option from where I select the model of my TV.

Re: How do I get my sky Q remote to turn off and on my TV
Any suggestions as to what I'm doing wrong, or what else I can do to connect my Sky remote to my TV?

Re: How do I get my sky Q remote to turn off and on my TV
@LynnSutherland I am afraid I do not know why options 4 or 5 are not being offered. Unfortunately I cannot try and duplicate it myself as since your original post I have switched to Sky Stream. Can I just check are you pressing 1 and then 3 or are you pressing them simultaneously which is what you are supposed to do? Perhaps someone else on here may be able to help.

Re: How do I get my sky Q remote to turn off and on my TV
Thanks @Stephen+Mourton.
I have tried both methods of combining buttons 1 and 3, to no avail.
The new remote works OK with the Sky Q box, but doesn't work with the TV, so I have to switch remotes to adjust the volume. A slight annoyance but I can live with it until someone else offers a solution - maybe @ChadRyan?

Re: How do I get my sky Q remote to turn off and on my TV
Took me ages to stumble on this one. I paired the remote with the tv using the codes. Worked grand but when I was powering off via the remote - Sky would turn of but tv would stay on and go to TV wallpaper saying 'no input' as sky was off.
Once you get the sky remote to control to this stage or can control the volume of your tv using the code method - you can hold down the power button 'for a few (5) seconds' on the sky Q remote to turn the tv on or off.

Yeah that's completely normal and expected. You can also have the TV turn the Q (or mini) off when you do that since a recent software update.

Re: How do I get my sky Q remote to turn off and on my TV
It can be pretty frustrating I know. I'd start by noting down on a piece of paper all the potential codes for the model of your tv. Then powering everything off at the wall and take batteries out of remote . Plug sky and tv back in after 30 seconds. Put batteries back in remote.
Have a full cup of tea on the go and go through the normal process. No big tips or tricks as it is very much a process to follow 'without loosing your rag' 😅
once you get it and can turn off the tv you will be able to control the volume and long press the sky remote to torn on tv and sky box 👍

Re: How do I get my sky Q remote to turn off and on my TV
I think we're talking at cross-purposes with the word "codes" here.
Pressing and holding 7&9 simultaneously on the remote, and then 1&3 together, should start the re-sync process, one step of which is to also choose your TV model (or try different IR sets known to work for your manufacturer if the model is not listed)

Re: How do I get my sky Q remote to turn off and on my TV
Thanks for the suggestions. Unfortunately part of the problem is that when going through all the steps on the guide for connecting remote to Sky Q, steps 4 and 5 don't come up - when I choose the type of remote I have, I do get offered all possible TV codes. I'm directed every ti6to the screen instructing me to press and hold 1 and 3 for 2 seconds, but although I've tried that numerous times, it has never worked (even after unplugging etc and removing batteries from remote as you suggested).
Sky's advice in such a scenario seems to try repeatedly then if no joy phone them, possibly to get a replacement remote?
In the absence of anything else, I may have to contact Sky. But thanks for the advice.
