Help with samsung connect box and sky Q

I'm just trying to understand how to connect my new samsung tv using the one connect box. I would be using my main sky q box. The samsung box is that also the remote? Bit confused

HI @themush

I have no personal experience of Samsung TVs or the one connect box.

As I understand it there is a single cable from the One Connect box that goes to the TV & the one connect box has HDMI inputs for other devices, so SKY Q would plug into one of these

I am not sure what you mean by Is the box also the remote  - if you are asking is the box the receiver for the remote signals then I am sorry I have no idea whether it is in the box, the TV, or both.

You just plug the q into one of the hdmi inputs

No it's not the remote, you still need both. The 1Connnect will probably auto-switch to the sky input when you turn on the Q though.

it's basically like any set of inputs on a TV, just housed externally.

Re: Help with samsung connect box and sky Q

I had a Samsung Q90R - which had a 1 connect box - until recently.

Plug in the Sky Q box into one of the HDMI inputs and make sure it is turned on. Then go to the Universal Remote options of the Samsung. From here you will be able to set up the Sky box to be controlled by the Samsung's remote and ensure that the TV properly identifies it along with the region you're in (In my case it identified it as Sky Q West Midlands) It'll appear as input option on the Samsung homepage.

You will also need to ensure that Samsung's HDMI input is set to Input Signal Plus to ensure full compatibility with the Q's 4K output (I think this is also needed for advanced Dolby audio - eg Atmos - if you have an amp connected by eARC.)

You can then setup the Sky remote to control the TV. Press home go down to settings then click right for Setup right again for Remote Control and follow the instructions. You then decide which remote to use - (for me the Q's remote was better.)

With CEC enabled you should find turning off the TV with its remote should also put the Q box into standby as well

There are things like voice control that you still need the Q remote for though so I'd stick with it.
