Having to reboot every time sky q loses signal
- Hi all. In this current windy weather, my sky q box frequently loses signal and won't pick it up again without the hard reboot. Is this normal, should it not automatically reconnect or at worst flicker off and on. There it goes again.......

Probably your dish is slightly out of alignment.
Work through the following link and if you cannot solve your issue it will lead to booking a Engineer.
Alternately, if you are on a Communal Dish you will need to contact your Landlord or Management company.

Re: Having to reboot every time sky q loses signal
Thank you for the quick reply. I had an engineer out in November for same issue but the calmer weather has hidden the problem. Surely the sky q box should automatically reconnect without the need to unplug and restart

Yes it should. Is this on the main box?

Could there be a setting that needs changed?

No I can't think of one. I think mine comes back on the rare occasions this happens. Did the engineer do anything to the dish alignment or mounting last time?

Re: Having to reboot every time sky q loses signal
Yeah, the dish had moved a fraction so he realigned it...the alignment isn't really the problem now as the box works fine after rebooting....

Re: Having to reboot every time sky q loses signal
It's not a perfect assessment but what does the signal strength and quality say?

Re: Having to reboot every time sky q loses signal
Signal strength 50 and signal quality is 90.....obviously both zero when off. Is 50 low ,is that a reflection of misalignment?

Re: Having to reboot every time sky q loses signal
It's not terrible, but maybe a symptom of a tricky location or slight misalignment. Have seen it higher.
