Thankfully the issue seems to have been resolved in time for the Olympics.

No It seems there is a problem with Discovery plus. I realised that I had to use the channel at least once every week. I have even talked to a sky rep. Who said she had never heard of this problem before. Judging by the comments I find this not to be true. I would appreciate an answer to this problem. I am paying for this and I should not have this problem. I would like an answer to this conundrum.

The original problem was sorted, sounds like you need to go to settings and reset your apps (not factory reset)

This has been an intermittent issue ever since I switched to Sky Stream. As of this week it is back with a vengeance and I am having to sign in every time on each puck I use.
It's ridiculous that nothing has been resolved - these complaints started 2 years ago and as far as I can tell Sky have so far offered no explanation or solution.
Discovery+ is the app I use most (no ads) and if nothing is done about this I will have to look at permanently abandoning Sky after 30 years of being a loyal customer.
