Has anyone else been told by Sky Q they no longer cover Sky Q boxes?

Because I was. They refused to come out and said it would have to be a Sky engineer, although the contract says they cover Sky Q boxes. I've posted to the Sky Protect forum but no response there.

Thanks

Doug

Sky Q boxes are loaned to you and Sky maintain responsibility for maintenance of their equipment.

@Dweller

Sky Protect, part of Domestic and General still cover Sky Q boxes as long as any fault wasn't there before you signed up. I have Sky Protect which covers my Sky Q equipment, cables, remote, dish etc and I have additional cover for my iPhone and iPad. There would be serious legal ramifications if they wouldn't cover an item on the policy without giving customers advanced notice (and a refund).

@Dweller

I think there has been miscommunication somewhere on your call. Did you initially call Sky or Sky Protect (Domestic and General)?

A lot of Sky Q users don't bother with Sky Protect because the boxes are covered anyway. I have kept it on to cover the other devices and you would probably get a quicker call-out (or they will reimburse you part of your TV subscription.

Our Service Pledge covers your Sky equipment:

  • Sky boxes
  • Dish
  • Router
  • On Demand connector
  • Cabling
  • Remote

Tell us about a problem by 4pm, and if we can’t fix it the next day, we’ll refund you a week’s Sky TV subscription.

The pledge won't apply if you turn down an offered engineer visit or if you’re not at home when they arrive.

Read our Service Pledge to find out more.

@Daniel0210 I think you are right I think there is confusion between Sky Protect run by Domestic & General and the Sky Protect home insurance as I can see the @Dweller has posted in the Sky protect forum regarding this so I think @Dweller may have spoken to someone that deals with home insurance and not D&G

I may be a Sky Superuser but I am still just a Sky customer

@Laing1  Totally agree, I think the poster is confused between the 2 diffeent products and has contacted the wrong Sky Protect.

Like you I'm a customer here, Sky Employees are clearly identified as such.

Quality branding using the same name for two completely different services.

Sky Protect D&G, covering:

Equipment Covered: Sky Sky Q
LG Smart TV
Apple Ipad
Samsung Smart TV

"If you chose to use one of your device slots for your Sky equipment,
you’ll also have exclusive access to priority slots if you need a Sky
engineer*. Call before 4pm and if we can’t repair or replace your core
Sky equipment the next day, we’ll refund you a week’s Sky TV
subscription."

@Dweller

See the posts above from @Laing1 @GD1 and myself. We are fairly certain you have called the other Sky Protect, not the one run by Domestic and General and endorsed by Sky.

When I called Sky Protect I got put through to Sky itself for some reason. I need to figure out how to avoid that so I can make a complaint.

@Dweller  But which Sky protect did you call If you were put through to Sky from Sky protect it sounds like you called the Sky Protect (Home insurance & Gadgets) not the D & G Sky protect.

Soo from what you posted it is your error calling the incorrect one.

 Is this the one you have?  https://www.skyprotect.com/myaccount/  Note the website shows powered by Domestic & general and displays an 0-8-0-0 number
