Has Sky ruined MY dish?
So I own my dish and had no issues using generic set top boxes with the twin feed cable. Since deciding the new tariffs were not for me and the amount of TV I actually watch I decided to leave Sky Q. I found to my dismay that the Sky engineers installed a special piece of technology which renders the dish useless for older my older box.
I have rung up and set a complaint in motion. I certainly didn't expect this would be the case. I don't really need loads of set top boxes littering up my space so am very happy to return the box and the remote. Just would also then like my dish reinstating to how it was.
Anyone have this experience? What can be done?

It's a LNB compatible with Sky Q. Q wouldn't work without it...

It's a contractual requirement, you have no choice.
What can be done?
Either buy a compatible FreeSat 4k box or pay to have an older LNB fitted. Sky will not do it.

Re: Has Sky ruined MY dish?
@landed Replacemt Universal LNB's are relatively cheap and can be installed yourself if the dish is within reach and safe to acces, if not ask a local installer to fit it.

Re: Has Sky ruined MY dish?
Yeah this is not some big secret. If you'd told the sky installer you wanted to carry on using old freesat boxes then they might have even installed a hybrid LNB at the time but appreciate you don't know what you don't know. It's not a big job to swap as long as you can get to it.
