HBO Max but no access to full catalogues?

Access to HBO Max commenced yesterday, where I assumed we'd have access to up-to-date titles. As an example, I can see the Pitt, but am really confused as to why, when Episode 12 of Season 2 aired on March 26th, I seem to only be able to watch episode 1?

Honestly with the price of Sky, especially since it recently increased again, the launches of these new add ons has been so incredibly underwhelming between being spammed with ads unless you pay more, or apparently not even being able to be subject to ads as the content isn't available!

Am I missing something fundamental that means I can't access it for some reason, or is it intended to serve content 3 months late versus the US as standard?

By definition Sky isn't responsible for the pricing structure or content catalogue of non-Sky apps, particularly as global corporations like Disney and Warner Bros Discovery are orders of magnitude bigger than Sky Group.  Having even the basic level of a streaming app bundled into a Sky subscription is still a saving for most people: it's up to individuals if they want higher tier access.

Warner Bros have decided to release The Pitt series 2 as one episode per week in the UK. How content is released on HBO Max is entirely up to Warner Bros and not something Sky has any control over.

Finally. HBO premium on a different device like Apple tv or Google TV delivering the quality sky should of been delivering. 4K 24p PREMIUM Dolby Vision and Atmos for HBO, DC and Warner content finally.

It does need more content as I seen stuff missing. The better specs grabbed my attention as presentation matters no more cheap HLG or wrong fps been saying it for years and got to be said again.

Now all we need is sky shows to be given the Dolby Vision presentation. I just found out your owner gave Day of the Jackal a Dolby Vision presentation on peacock in the US but we did not get that same superior presentation here which was a shame. Wonder why sky shows we missing out on being presented better Premium fee but not so Premium presentation.

hi @StargazerUK1984

DV is available on SKY Stream but, unfortunatly, SKY Q hardware is too old and will never get DV.

The SKY Q platform lends itself much more for those who want convenience via the apps rather than quality - I always recommend  using apps on more modern hardware such as TVS inbuilt apps, Apple TV boxes, Firesticks etc . - personally I use my Firesticks. (Even some smart TVs are now showing their age app wise)

SKY customers can still take advantage of the included / lower subscriptions and yet be able to use the apps on other devices.

I am surprised no one has noticed this yet if you look at the HBO pricing direct from HBo max  ther is 4 prices basic with ads £4.99 ( the free one on Sky )  standard with ads £5.99 ,standard £9,99 and premium £14.99.  Now with Sky there is only 3 they offer a upgrade to standard for 5 or premium for £10 they dont offer standard with ads , standard with ads gives you all the movies that are not available with Basic. and if Sky were to offer that even at the price difference of £1  you would get every thing however if with sky you have to pay £5 to get everything though do get the extra luxury of no ads.

@DaveDrizen the news article does state:

Upgrades to HBO Max Standard with Ads aren’t available right now we will let you know when this is available.

Re: HBO Max but no access to full catalogues?

Completely understand that, but the level of service/tiers Sky choose to provide customers with through non-Sky services as part of their offering is within their control, and they've chosen the basic while passing further cost to customers. This, combined with recent price increases has actually not resulted in cost savings here on a monthly basis, as we'll still be paying the same each month to access the same level of service through some non-Sky services as we were before.

It's not the end of the world, just a reminder to keep expectations low!

I didn't realise that, and a real shame!

Re: HBO max premium has no atmos sound

Via the Sky Netflix app, Peaky Blinders is HDR, 5.1.     On my LG's Netflix app it's DolbyVision, Dolby Atmos.   This is Sky Q.

Well, yes: Comcast Corporation stockholders would probably prefer their Sky Group division not to make a loss through giving away subscriptions to other companies platforms.

Sky Q has never been capable of outputting Dolby Vision - it's limited to HDR10 on third party apps. You are always better using your TVs native apps to get the best quality.

Sky Q is decade old technology now and the apps are there for convenience, not necessarily the best quality.

Granted the Sky Q has an obvious limitation that stream does not. But nothing stopping them from doing HDR10 like the streamers do.

I found sky hardware so limited in comparison to what is out there but also sky hardware is not that great and has hz limits of 50 or 60 so sky uk made content or if produced in UK great but as you said use the apps else where never on sky hardware as some do matching framerate and no one beats the apple tv for this but amazon comes in second as its got some but not many.

I am leaving sky soon anyway partly to do with this and other reasons including cost and past sky screw ups in my contract. But had the content stayed with sky only we would not be getting better quality and glad the studios had done this move but personally HBO should of not let it stay on sky and been app only but that is my opinion.

Anyway just done a sample of the films that are not available on on the free HBO max subscription and they are all available on Sky cinema anyway .  Which I have. So why would I want to pay more for them though HBO max. No I will stick with the free service.
