@David1609  I'm nmot sure why your're tagging a fellow customer for this query?

Have you gone into the Sky Q setting menu and checked the picture settings are 1080i?

Like you I'm a customer here, Sky Employees are clearly identified as such.

Re: Got new sky q box,now some channels are not as clear as was on old Q box

He's tried to tag me as the Mrs!

Basically, we had a hard drive error come up on old Sky Q box and so Sky sent new one, self install. Everything connected exactly the same as before but now any SD channels, especially Sky Sports News that were previously crystal clear are fuzzy and any writing is blurry / shadowing. Pictures, particularly moving players etc are pixilated.

HD channels are fine as is the guide.

Checked settings and same on 1080p or 1080i.

Very frustrating as picture is rubbish where before we had no problems (until hardware issue).

Any ideas?

Hi @David1609

Sony Bravia 46" and not 4k.

Understand it'll have limited capabilities but it's frustrating as old box was fine!

Thanks

Hi @David1609

As I'm sure you are aware HD is 4 times the resolution of SD and so there is going to be 4 fold increase in detail in HD.  This is very noticeable on screen text.

Just to confirm it's not a setting on your Q box first make sure the Q box is on the latest software version.

https://www.sky.com/help/articles/sky-software-updates

However bear if mind that when you select Setup (in Setting - System info - Software version) the message received will always be update this box with the latest software even if the box is already on the latest version.
Updating when already on the latest version achieves nothing and the box software is not refreshed.  If your Software does need updating see the help link below.
https://www.sky.com/help/articles/updating-sky-box-software
once you are sure the Sofware is the latest try a Reset Settings in the Q box hidden menu.

To enter hidden menu press Home and navigate down to Settings but do not select Settings.
With Settings highlighted press 0 0 1 Select.
Only Carry out the first Reset (Reset Settings) as the other two will wipe all recordings.
After the Reset you will have to re pair your Bluetooth remote If you use one.
If you cannot switch the Q box on with the remote after the Reset press the Standby button (Amber led) on the front of the box.
To re pair the remote press 1 & 3 together on the remote and follow onscreen instructions to re pair.

Make sure that you are pointing the remote at the Q box when you press 1 & 3 together.

Resetting the settings will also reset:

Audio visual settings, such as picture resolution and HDMI control
Settings changed within the hidden engineer menu, include LNB type. If on a communal dish you need to reset the LNB to SCR in the hidden menu. After changing the LNB type you need to reboot the Q box.
