Whats happened to channel 512(GBNews)? It seems to have gone SD.
I have just had new Skyq box installed and every HD channel is working perfectly, except 512.
Has anything changed with their broadcasts? anyone else have this problem?

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreFor your information GB News is one of the weaker channels broadcasting in the UK, along with CNN & Bloomberg (and possibly Al Jazeera). They use a different a European wide beam rather than the normal UK/ROI transponder.
These channels will likely be one of the first to be affected if your satellite dish is slightly out of alignment which won't be visible to the naked eye so you could see if you can watch those.

There was a change late last year which makes a slight dish misalignment more likely to cause signal loss in the UK

Oh Well. No great loss.
I just wondered if it was the new box that's just been installed. As wasn't an issue with the old one.
Thanks for the info.

I have checked and they are all as before. It really is only channel 512.

Clearly, sky have blocked GB News, which is absolutely utterly despicable

As the Post now marked as an Answer GB News uses a transponder that is weaker in the UK so any slight mis-alignement wil cause the channel to either pixelate or even for some show as not availble

Completely untrue. Though if it were, I'd have a lot more respect for Sky.

Clearly they haven't, as already mentioned within this thread it's likely your dish is slightly misaligned.

And simply isn't happening.
The last 'block' was when RT was removed from broadcast across Europe: such things do tend to get noticed and attract wide media attention.

It's worth noting that the transponder change which weakened UK signal was absolutely the choice of the GB News owners to favour (ironically) their audience in mainland Europe .
