I opted for the free sky sports 4 week trial and then cancelled it so it wouldn't carry on after the 4 weeks but i now have no access to sky sports so no free trial?

@MightyQuinn what the op did to avoid any charge at all was correct as the 31 days notice starts the day you give it so if you give it after three weeks they would have been charged a full month on top of the free period
technically the channels should have remained active for the whole free period before being switched off as per the cancellation
@TherealOggy this situation does occur occasionally so you would have grounds to lodge a formal complaint if you wish to pursue it

Re: Free sky sports trial
Hi @TherealOggy You needed to give your 31 days notice after three weeks.

Re: Free sky sports trial
My understanding of the wording of the VIP offer is that you can cancel at any tiime during the free trial period with no cost. The 31 day notice only kicks in after the free trial ends and the new contract (£20 per month for 6 months) starts. Cancelling during the free 4 week trial may take effect immediately, hence the op's situation of having cancelled ,in effect immediately?

Just checked on mine and it's definitely cancel anytime in the 4 week trial, there is a "further T&Cs may apply" but I didn't check them. I suspect you're correct, as it's a free trial, they turn it off with immediate effect.

Re: Free sky sports trial
I just took up this offer in order to catch the end of the football season, this is supposed to be priced at £20 per month for 6 months after the initial 4 week free period (with 31 days notice to cancel) but my Sky future billing is showing as a discounted Sports HD at £2 and the full priced Sky Sports at £36 per month. Currently chatting with Sky 😕

Re: Free sky sports trial
Yep, my future bills also showed it at that price. Wouldn't take up a 'free' trial again.
Really poor service from Sky!

Re: Free sky sports trial
Oddly the end date of the deal is for 2 months, not 1. Just got this back
"I have reviewed your account and I do see you have got the offers for you that is 2 months free where after a month you will receive for the package confirmation whether if you wish to Opt in or Opt out for the Sky Sports package if you click in the Opt in the package will be £20 for the next 6 months and if you click on Opt out the package will get cancelled after 2 months trial period."
so it's a different offer entirely.
Future billing shows as full price after the first month but they reckon that will update if I opt in. Also "confirmed" that the £20 a month for 6 months is a rolling monthly deal with 31 days notice and not full price for the remaining 18 months (as I was expecting 😞 )

Re: Free sky sports trial
The text I got on Friday says 4 weeks too, just as well that there's a swear filter on this forum...
"EXCLUSIVE FREE TRIAL - Get Sky Sports FREE for 4 weeks. £20pm 6m after. Cancel anytime. Click sky.com/trial to begin. Optout STOP to 80401"
4 weeks or 2 months Sky??? The end date for Sky Sports HD is interesting mind 🙂
