On the top of a 2 storey house, yeah that could be a problem. I think it's possible you might need to get an indie to put a new Q compatible LNB on that first as the Sky H&S rules have changed and they don't generally do high work any more.

hi @Roger18

As @Chodley  SKY's H&S for their installers have changed and they no longer mount dishes on chimneys. Is there anywhere else a dish could go ?

I would leave it until they arrive and see what they say (although that could cause delays).

Even if you get an independent installer to install a new LNB SKY may refuse to install as their guidelines say they must be able to access in case of problems.

BTW You may wish to read some notes I have made for people considering switching from SKY +/HD to SKY Q

SKY +/HD to SKY Q

Good point. Hadn't thought of that. A new dish might be a better option.

@Roger18

Sky don't use email for general communication. Also, there is no direct path to a engineers department. You ring the normal Sky number.

You can call Sky free by dialling 150 from a Sky Talk landline or a Sky Mobile, otherwise you can use:
https://www.sky.com/help/home
UK customers: Scroll down and click on ‘Need more help’ and it provides a 0333 number.
ROI customers: change the flag in the bottom right corner of the link to the ROI flag then scroll down and click on ‘Need more help’ and it provides a 0818 number.
(The forum doesn’t allow us to type the numbers in full).

You will find that similar to calling other large companies the start will be automated which may also try to send you back to the forum. Stay on the line as long as possible and don’t hang up.

Sky 'engineers' are semi-autonomous installers working in their own 'patch' : there's no way for a customer to make contact with them  before a visit unless the local installer chooses to do so.

They'll either find a different location for the dish or not carry out the installation.
