Everyday I have to enter my wifi password to connect to the internet on my Sky Q box (my tv is ok)

This has only started to happen in the last month - when i get a message on the Sky home page saying not connected to the internet. So have to go to settings, locate my wifi and re-connect. I do not have Sky Broadband. The tv is still connected to the internet so it isn't an issue with the connection. It is quite frustrating.  It is not pratical to hardwire the ethernet cable to tv.

Hi @PolnCol Try rebooting your router by removing the power cable for 30 sec then reconnect to reboot, then reboot your main SKYQ box by turning the power off at the socket for 30 sec then turn back on to reboot?

Did you find the problem with your WiFi connection to Q box. 
I have been suffering the same problem. Was on Sky broadband and suffered disconnection frequently. Now gone over to Virgin Fibre and STILL have same problem. ☹️

I'm having the exact same problem! Did you find any answers? I feel if I ring Sky I'm just going to told to reset my router when that's clearly not the issue. None of my other devices need to have the password re-input...seems the sky box just keeps forgetting the password.

I've been with sky for 24 years and have never had to do that....until last year when I moved my broadband to another company, now it happens all the time.. Everything else is connected so I know it's not the internet, it's them..  I think it's to **bleep** you off so you'll go back to their broadband, but I'm thinking of shutting sky off completely tbh.

I've been with sky for 24 years and never had that problem.......until last year when I changed my broadband to another company, now it happens all the time.  I know it's not the broadband because everything else connected works really well.   I think it's to annoy you so you'll change back to their broadband, but I'm thinking of closing my sky account because of it.

It's not deliberate, just rubbish

 

Try powerline adapters if you can't run ethernet.

I have had the issue with my Sky Q box ever  since I switched over to EE BB from Sky.

 

I scoured through various online forums but without much success. 

 

I do think I have now found a stable solution that works.

 

Caveat - I have an EE SmartHub Wifi Hub

 

Go to Hub Manager typing this in your web browser https://192.168.1.254

Enter the admin password supplied with the Hub

 

On the Hub Dashboard screen, select Wireless => Change Settings (on the top of the screen) 

You shall now see a screen with Main and Compatible WiFi as toggle options

Select Compatible WiFi, turn it to ON

The Network name should automatically have a -COMP at the end

I kept Security setting as WPA2-Personal

Security Password is upto you, I kept the same password as the Main WiFi

WPS is set to ON

I enabled the 2.4 GHz channel only

Keep the the 5 GHz channel disabled 

 

Click on Save and return to the Dashboard screen

 

Now go to the Settings => Network Connection => Network Setup on your Sky Q box

Select the Wireless netwok with the -COMP at the end & enter the password

Once connected , you should be good to go.

 

Note - I did not change any settings on the Sky Q box by enabling the secret menu pressing 001 when on the Settings menu
