Every morning my SKYQ box is noisy between 04:00 hrs and 07:00 hrs.

Every morning my SKYQ box is noisy (disc spinning) between 04:00 hrs and 07:00 hrs. Everyday at 7 precisely the noise stops..   Anyone know what it's doing?

Donloading software? If your Standby mode is set to Eco, your Sky boxes will be switched to low power mode in the early hours of the morning.

@Anonymous  or maybe a faulty Sky Q box they don't normally make that much of a noise and mine has never lasted for three hours when the Sky Q box is set to Eco mode in standby options.

05:45am is usually when the Sky Q box comes out of Eco mode for me.

Thanks but I don't  think it's updates or a faulty box.  

Every morning it goes quiet at precisely 7am.  It's quiet when I go to bed and just twice I've heard it start at precisely 4am (I'm not usually up at that time).

Just in case anybody sees this post with a similar problem.  It turns out that it was an old Sony DVD recorder that started doing this (positioned under the Sky Q).   We never use it and have just unplugged it -duh never realised it was still plugged in!

I found this post elsewhere- "All of my Sony recorders have a habit whereby from ~04:30 each morning until about 07:00 they run their fans and/or HDs. This happens fairly infrequently and a power cycle stops the problem occuring for a couple of months again."  I guess it's trying to update something!
