Even with pin protection turned off, loads of programs ask for a pin. How can I dismantle this?

How can I turn this off except for pay per view? Online helps says it will still happen for some movies and TV shows even if I've turned it off, but modern family?? Seems to be a little over zealous to say the least

@JamesAt  You can't

If you are watching age restricted content pre watershed then it'll always ask for the pin regardless of your settings

it's an ofcom regulation requirement that Sky must adhere to and cannot be override by sky or the customer

https://www.ofcom.org.uk/consultations-and-statements/category-2/mandatory-daytime-protection#M1014

certain channels like Sky Atlantic and Sky Comedy are taking advantage of a rule change that allows them to broadcast age restricted content pre watershed providing they apply Mandatory daytime protection , that cannot be overridden by the the customer , it seems that Sky have decided to apply this rule to each individual program that the rules apply to rather than the channel, so this means that if you have entered the pin to access the channel and the following program is also age restricted you will be asked to enter the pin again when that program starts even though you are already on the channel

@JamesAt  There are occasional gremlins in the system and this may be one unless the episode as a specific rating

Sadly this is not an occasional gremlin, it is all the time and incredibly frustrating.

@JamesAt  the currency episodes of modern family airing on sky showcase are either 12 or pg rated the 12 ones will require a pin the pg ones won't

The current episode on showcase is pg and didn't require a pin when I accessed it

No outage two weeks ago.

Mandatory Daytime Protection is probably the cause of the PIN requirement.

Every programme on the Sky Atlantic daytime schedule requires a PIN.  That won't be the case on any other channel apart from some Sky Cinema.

Re: Even with pin protection turned off, loads of programs ask for a pin. How can I dismantle this?

Hi

In south Devon we had a Wi-Fi outage for nearly three days and you may know if you are on Sky glass everything goes down unless you have an aerial for free view.

Sky admitted the outage which involved Bt line faults.

We had no sky or broadband from Boxing Day morning until 29/12/24 late afternoon.

Sky gave us £8.50 compensation for the inconvenience?

when this happens you have to reset your Sky glass tv, which means you lose access to all of your apps until you have reactivated them one by one.

Getting Sky glass was always a worry as it depends entirely on broadband.

this is the second time in 2024.
