Hi,
I'm gradually moving to all Ethernet for my Sky Q 2TB and 4 Mini boxes (router is BT Home Hub 2).
Currently I have a mix of Ethernet via a switch to main box and either 200MBs Powerlines or Ethernet cable from BT Complete Wifi Disc Extender for the minis. Dont want to jinx it but so far so good!
I've just realised the switch that feeds the main box is only 100MBs max. I can get a cable direct from the HHB 2 but its more work. Would this be worthwhile for the extra data throughput? I could also move another BT Disc Extender next to the sky main box - would this be better than 100MBs (Wifi is fast and stable)?
Does anyone know what max data throughput the main box can utilise?

Thanks all for the advice.
I'll go with the simpler cabling option then!

@Jinxy999 All Sky Boxes both Q & Stream only utilise 100mb ports on them.

The V2 and V3 Sky Q boxes have gigabit ethernet but for programme downloads I've only ever seen a maximum of around 120Mbps. The Netflix speed test is the only thing that goes higher.

Hi @Jinxy999
Don't be obsessed about download speed.
Q will never use anything much above the speed you are seeing.
Content will be available to watch within a few seconds on about 60 -70 Mbps

Re: Ethernet into Sky Q Box - What speed should I aim for?
I finally got around to finish the wiring to complete my Sky Q switch to Ethernet.
I tested the Ethernet cable to the Sky Q box and it was showing 250MBs on my PC.
I have see elsewhere that you can use the Netflix speed test to test the speed of your Sky Q box.
When I do this I only see 29(ish)MBs. Does anyone kno why this would be? If thats the only throughput I'm getting I'd be better off plugging it into one of the BT Disks, which I did for the Minis!

Re: Ethernet into Sky Q Box - What speed should I aim for?
29MB is about 250Mb. Is Netflix showing MB or Mb? Datarates are usually shown in Megabits per second, not Megabytes (MB) but those two numbers are too coincidental...

Have you disabled wifi on the Q?
I assume there was nothing else hitting the internet when you did the netflix test?

Re: Ethernet into Sky Q Box - What speed should I aim for?
Yep, was final stage of moving all of Sky Q (Mani Box and Minis) over to ethernet.
Nothing else running and can consistently get 75Mbs download when tested elsewhere.
