Do Sky make V3 Sky Q 2TB boxes

Hi,

I joined Sky Q in 2016 and had a Sky Q silver box with 2 HDMI ports in 2018 an engineer replaced our box with an ES240 the one with a separate power supply and I have had so many issues with it since it freezes and the fans are loud and I noticed it's only on the es240 the fans are loud it's stuck in standby mode every morning we have to reset it ourselves and its honestly so bad we have had it replaced again and again about a week ago the engineer came and put in a new v2 box but why isn't there a V3 2TB Box because my sister has a V3 1TB Box and it works amazing she's had it since December 2019 

Does Sky not make v3 2TB Boxes or are they out of stock  (sorry for long life story)

The default SKY Q box for a while has been the 1TB HDR box (which are V3 boxes)  so 2TB are less available not being the 'Standard' 

My personal guess is that with SKY stream now taking a large chunk of the market including many migrating from SKY Q , it is quite likely that SKY are not getting any new SKY Q boxes & luite ikely to refurb returned boxes to supplement existing stocks. 

I think you have been unlucky with your v2 boxes - many of us have the V2 boxes (I got one as an upgrade from my V1 2TB non HDR but after the V3 2TB were available at that time) and very happy with them. 

I don't think it is guaranteed that a V3 box will be any more reliable than a V2 box & I don't know that you can insist on one

If you really want a V3 box you may have to consider opting for a 1TB HDR box

My luck with Sky Q ES240 boxes must be bad then but I have noticed they are the only ones that start up with loud fans and remind of HD boxes when you turn it on from standby after a while when it makes that noise but they are loud and unreliable for me

Hi @skyq2tb 

As @nigea99 has suggested think you must have been unlucky. Had a V2 TB box for 5 years and it has always worked faultlessly (touch wood so far). Also it is virtually silent and never gets hot having a separate power supply.

Only very slight dissadvantage is the BBC iPlayer app on the V2 box doesn't support 4K HDR, but since I never use that, e.g. I use the apps on my smart TV, that is certailnly not a problem.

I've not had any of the problems you mention with loud fan noise or any kind of regular box freezing.

I have had my V2 box for five years and 10 months.

Could be some other reason your Sky Q box is failing or more noisy than usual.

I'm 99% sure I had the fan noise and daily lockup issue with a brand new V3 2TB box when HDR was first available as a paid upgrade so I don't think it's specific to the V2.

oh I've must have not heard it on other boxes then but why on the V2 Sky Q box the front part is like the same silver as ES140 but back part is like a weird silver I'll try providing a picture tomorrow

Sky Box V2 5 years quiet as a church mouse I should know this as it's 3 foot away from my bed

Only noise it makes is when it comes out of sleep mode at 05:45am and sometimes I sleep through that 🤣

Sky do  a V3 2TB box, I got one last November replacing a V1 however I have had pixilation , about twice a day, on all Sky Minis since then 😞

Don't think that's an issue with that box version per se.

I have the v3 2TB and don't get that.

Is the V3 good have you had any issues with it

First one I got was faulty. Locked up every day. Replacement has been very solid. Maybe one crash every 6 months. Menus much quicker than v1 plus it has HDR of course. Never had a v2 so can't compare.

I had a v3 2Tb box for just over a year. It was better than the v2 2Tb box it replaced. Definitely quicker and had a much quieter hard drive. Not totally silent but better. It also allowed UHD/HDR from the iPlayer app, something the v2 boxes can't do. 

I've since switched to Stream but the only good thing I can say about the pucks are that they are totally silent.

has Sky Q new software made it so the Sky Q Touch Remote no longer works like the buttons work but touchpad doesn't or voice like when I press voice it says sorry no results
