Do I need to buy a hdmi 2.1 cable to get best picture between sky q and a Samsung smart 4k tv

HDMI 2.1 cables are intended to carry the bitrate for 8K resolution. As @Chodley indicates there's no harm in using one for Q, but don't pay more than £10.
