Re: Denon AV Receiver and Sky Q main box black screens

That's a v2 box. You can try and request a v3 but, as mentioned by others, it's never easy to speak to a customer service person who knows the difference...

Sky telling me that they have no V3 boxes. I have asked for an engineer to com eout in the hope they have a V3 box on the van.

are there any identifiers on the cardboard box to tell if its a V3 box?

Re: Denon AV Receiver and Sky Q main box black screens

Hi,

I'm sorry but I can't remember the model numbers off the top of my head but a google search should show you what they are for a V3 box.

For me to get my box exchanged for a new V3 it took the threat to cancel and an email to the CEO office.

As I said before, Sky say that they have had very few complaints about this issue so hence not being that bothered.
The more who complain the more likely they are to address the problem.

For me all the other potential resolutions involved compromises in functionality that I wasn't prepared to make.

It really is up to the individual as to how far they are prepared to go to get a result that works for them.

Cheers

Nobby.

A UHD/HDR 1TB would be 'v3' by definition.  With 2TB hardware it's distinctly hit-and miss.

I suppose I can take a hit at taking a 1Tb box rather than a 2TB if it fixes the issue

Re: Denon AV Receiver and Sky Q main box black screens

There are V3 2TB boxes but I was told that they were not plentiful, however as I already had a 2TB box ( V2 ) I insisted that it was replaced like for like and I got a 2TB.

Sky wanted to confirm that the V3 box would resolve my issues and initially brought me a 1TB box which I agreed to keep until ti was replaced within a week with a 2TB box.

I understand that they ( Sky ) don't make it easy and not everyone is comfortable with having to be ' forceful ' with them but I was so unhappy with the situation, especially as Sky were so dismissive about there being any problems with their equipment, they initially said it was the receiver manufacturers to blame.
Again, it really is up to the Sky customer to fight their corner to get a resolution that they are happy with.

Nobby.

@Nobby1963 Engineer booked for Thursday - see what he says - doubt he'll have any V3 but at least I can demo the issue to a human and not a human in an overseas call center 😉

Probably will. The 1TB v3 boxes are the default now. I have a 2TB but I'd give up half the storage to resolve something like your problem.

If it does HDR and doesn't have an external power brick, it's a V3 in the local forum parlance 😉

HDR and no external power brick. All black no silver.

Re: Denon AV Receiver and Sky Q main box black screens

Sky have now stopped all v3 Q boxes due to another technical issue, so if you haven't got one yet, you will not be getting, I've being trying for 3 days to get one and keeping sending the v2's back they send out, I'm now, again, on to sky tech help to try and get this issues sorted as it's being going on since Q come out and sky still do not want to deal with the 1000's of people reporting the issue
