Re: Denon AV Receiver and Sky Q main box black screens
That sounds slightly different. You have Sky Q into the LG and then eArc to Denon?
The main issues in this thread are around Sky Q directly into Denon. Which (outside of v3 box which I don't think they make any more) there's no workaround. It's a massive pain!

Re: Denon AV Receiver and Sky Q main box black screens
I had a Pioneer AV receiver before and was getting the black screen issue sometimes and had to power cycle the sky q box for the picture to come on again.
I've just upgraded the Receiver to a Marantz Cinema 70s and still get the issue sometimes. I've got the v2 sky box with the power brick. Spoke to Sky and they'll be sending a engineer. Let's see what happens! Will send an update here of issue gets resolved.

Assume you've tried new cables?

Re: Denon AV Receiver and Sky Q main box black screens
As mentioned previously, I ended up going through TV to receiver, but then I had irreparable lip sync issues. So I've ended up on optical!
Actually just given notice and cancelled Sky Q, for a myriad of reasons, this being up there.

Re: Denon AV Receiver and Sky Q main box black screens
Hi Folks, I was just about to buy a Denon AV Receiver specifically to work with my Sky Q box and stumbled across this issue. (One person wrote a negative review on the Richer Sounds website where they explained they had this problem). This is my understanding of the current situation
1)
So I have a "Sky Q 1TB UHD" which should be a V3 and which (if I am reading this right) should work fine.
Is that correct, only V2 Sky Q boxes have the issue and mine should be fine?
It had a blue power connector and the power lead is just a cable - not a power adaptor.
2)
If I get a new Sky Q box for whatever reason it might actually be a V2 as Sky seem to have stopped supplying V3 boxes

Re: Denon AV Receiver and Sky Q main box black screens
Its not an issue per-se with teh AV Reciever - its an issue with Sky Q.
AFAIK Sky Stream doesnt have this issue.

I think it can depend on how you connect a Q box to the TV & receiver.
If the Q box is connected to the TV via HDMI and the Denon is connected via eARC then it should be OK as long as the Q box is brought out of standby after the TV and receiver are powered on.
If the Q box is connected to the receiver via HDMI and then has the video passed through to the TV, then it should be OK, again as long as the receiver wakes up quickly enough to enable the HDMI handshake with the Q box and the TV.
Sky Stream pucks have their own quirks with HDMI. I had to get a CEC blocker for mine as it wreaked havoc with other devices connected to my Denon receiver due to it sending out spurious CEC commands even when it was in standby.

And my Yamaha amp doesn't have this issue. So where does that set of experimental results leave us?

Re: Denon AV Receiver and Sky Q main box black screens
There are a number of posts citing Denon Reciever communication issues within AV Forums indicating there is a compatibility issue common to many tv's depending on the way the receiver, tv and Sky box are all connected.
The tried and tested way around this is to connect the Sky box directly to the t v and the Denon to the tv's eARC port.
Some also in this support forum.

After years with this issue I might have finally solved it with a cheap fix. I stuck one of these in the Denon hdmi input

Forget that it doesn't stop it having blank screen when returning from a different input.
