Hi All,
Compliments of the season ...
It doesn't sound right that Sky can't cope with the number of complaints over the issues, unless there have suddenly been a flood of them. It was definitely the case that Sky didn't see it as a problem due to the lack of complaints relative to the number of Q boxes out there.
Also if they are now saying that there is an issue with the V3 Q box and that's why people can't get them, why is mine working fine and has solved the problem ?
I know that they were not ' plentiful ' in supply and I would suggest that this is more likely to be the case.
Just my opinion obviously.
Cheers
Nobby.

What other technical issue is that?

Supposedly they keep crashing, according to the sky engineer I had round today

Mine hasn't. Not heard it from
anyone on here either. Sounds like baloney.

Might be, I'm telling you what I've been told today by the sky engineer

I know. That was directed at what they said.
Today? Hmm, you posted it on the 30th. You had this claim from more than one source then?
edit: there have been a lot of reports of failed hard drives recently. I wonder if that's what the engineer was referring to. I assumed they were older boxes wearing out but you never know.

Again that was what I was told on the phone by sky, so again is probably **bleep**, but they have stopped using/sending the v3 sky q box out.
It's almost like sky know about all the problems and just don't want to do anything about it.

The engineer who came to install. My box told me that there are no more brand-new boxes been made, nor being distributed as they are wanting everybody to go to Sky stream now, which is obviously more cost-effective for them, and will eventually mean the cost of renting satellite space will be withdrawn. However, that naturally won't mean that the costs will go down for us.

So... there's no way to get a v3 box these days. The constant crashes is driving me insane, especially with how much we pay a month. Leaning more and more on Apple TV to watch stuff these days.
Might have to move to Stream and move on with my life. And then moan about Stream 😂

Connect your Sky box to a different HDMI on your TV and use your receiver for sound (and other peripherals like Apple TV).
That's what I've done and I haven't had issues for months.

Yeah. I think that's my only route from here. I have only one HDMI chased through the wall, should probably be able to feed another one through.
Just a faff for something that should just work!

Managed to chase another HDMI through the wall. I've got a 2017 LG, and over ARC with Sky Q on Dolby Digital and now get irreparable lip sync (video is ahead of the audio!).
So now I'm looking at either living with the constant crashes, or just using optical (and losing out on modern audio formats).
Never a dull moment!
