I know Sky have MASSIVE issues between Q boxes and a boat load of AV Receivers but my issue is my 2800H Denon.
When switching from one HDMI source to Sky Q HDMI I normally get the black screen. Then have to reboot Sky Q box completely every time I want to watch Sky.
It's totally unusable. The box has been sluggish and slow in between channels for a while and this is my 3rd box in as many years.
Did anyone figure out a fix for the Black screen issue? Have tried 6 different HDMI cables. Using different HDMI inputs on Receiver..
Lots AV Forums suggesting another Main Q box will end the woes but wanted to ask on here anyway.

Hi @Robcoe74
Using Denon here.
I have experienced this issue in the past and to eliminate it I always made sure that the TV Set was always set to the Q HDMI input before putting the Q box out of Standby.

Hi. Sorry do you mean.. finish watching tv.. turn tv and sky q and receiver off.. next session.. turn reciever and tv on first.. then sky box?
I do wonder whether Sky will ever improve their HDMI components in their boxes because it's so widespread.. very few other kit has the same level of HDMI issues as Sky Q boxes 😞

PS ... All my HDMI components are plugged into the 2800H and the 2800H into HDMI 3 on tv.. My old Marantz receiver.. not many issues.. it's Sky not liking all Denons

hi @Robcoe74
Must admit I only use my Denon when I want decent surround sound. Most of the time the Denon is in standby and using Bypass for Sky.
If you are not using Sky as a source then keep it in standby. When watching other sources and then decide to use Sky then switch the Denon Source to Sky before putting the Q box out of standby.
Same if using TV Apps (not Sky Apps).

Hi,
I also have had issues with my now Denon 2800 but also previously a s760 Denon.
The thread is here somewhere, but long story short, the only way I was able to resolve the blank screen issue ( and retain full functionality of the Denon AVR ) was to get Sky to replace my Sky Q box for a V3 box, these apparently have a different chip set in the HDMI connection parts that solved it for me.
This obviously isn't an ideal solution as it means losing any recordings you have on the old box and also it isn't a straightforward option to get Sky to exchange the box.
Good Luck
Nobby.

They have archived the previous thread dealing with this specific issue (Sky Q and Denon).
In any case, I'm tired of the constant reboots, I'm going to ask for the newer version box. Its ridiculous now.

Hey @Nobby1963
What's the version of your V3 box? Is it 32B2XX? And is the power jack at the back of the box blue, instead of orange?
Thanks

Hi,
Sorry I hadn't realised the other threads had been archived.
My box is 32B206.
I can't get to the back of the box at the moment but it doesn't have the power adapter ( ?) box on the mains lead like my previous V2 box had.
Having sorted my issues out by swapping the Q box I hadn't looked into the forums regarding this for a while.
You might need to be quite forceful with Sky to get them to agree to the exchange, I had to to fire off an email to the exec office to eventually get it done, threatening to cancel.
Unfortunately, although there are plenty of people complaining online about the issue, Sky say that they have not had any real volume of contacts regarding it.
For me the problem has gone away, it was a downer to lose some of the recordings on my old box, ones I haven't been able to get back, but having a system that works as it should became more important and I had no confidence that Denon would be motivated to fix it, as they said there was nothing wrong at their end, and Sky were denying any knowledge initially but did let slip that there were one or two others who had experienced similar issues.
Good Luck.
Nobby.

Sorry, I meant to add that when you think about the content of the archived threads it's not surprising that they have been removed., but I can't help thinking that it's not really ' in the spirit ' of forums like this where people come together to try to help others who are perhaps having trouble.
I haven't looked but hopefully the now missing threads haven't been archived sooner than others that might not be as potentially critical of Sky .......?

hi @Nobby1963 thanks for confirming. Mine is 32B12C and the 32B1XXs are clearly V2, while the 32B2XX is V3. I think the colour of the power cable at the back of the box also gives an indication of version.
I spoke to Sky yesterday and the lady asked for the color, and when I told her orange, she thought that was an "old, non-HDR" version. Mine is clearly the older version, but it's not non-HDR. I get that format for everything, apart from iPlayer. I only have iPlayer in HD on that box.
Long story short, she's dropped a note for the engineer I have coming over in a couple of days. He's supposed to switch the box to a V3 box, and if he gives me one that's the same version as current, I'll know to ask for something different.
If that resolves my issue, I'll confirm back on this post.

Hi I'm having the same issue of black screen no sound no pass through to a recently purchased Marantz cinema 70s. I also just upgraded my plasma to OLED 4k. I have the same v2 sky box with power unit external. It will find the sky q box but if I play any uhd recordings then the following day I can't switch it to watch anything through the av. I tried putting tv on first then Marantz then correct input for sky q then power up sky q, it doesn't work for me. I had to bring another tv down and plug into that directly from sky q hdmi. I'm completely fed up with it

Issue has been resolved for me - with a bit of a work around.
Basically, V3 boxes are rare, and in the telling of the engineer, there's really no difference between the V2 and V3 box, apart from the power supply (not sure how much I believe that). In any case, he had no V3 box, and his mate in the same area didn't either.
So, we just connected my Sky Q box directly to another HDMI port on my TV, and for sound I left my audio cable connection between TV and Denon. Video and Sound are in sync.
So Apple TV, 4K player, Chromecast all have vdieo passing through the Denon, while Sky Q goes directly to the TV.

Thanks for the info, bizarrely I switched on my LG oled this morning and the Marantz fired up with it. The display said Sky q. So I switched sky on and low and behold it all came on! Yesterday it didn't want to work. I just don't get the logic here. I have ordered a new 2.1 hdmi coming today . I was going to connect sky q directly to the oled and hope the eARC will return the sound to AVR for surround sound. It just defeats the object of using the Marantz as a switching hub

I have the same with my LG OLED, Sky Q external suply HDR box and Marantz NR1510 and Cinema 70s.
Over the weekeend I found this post on AV forums https://www.avforums.com/threads/sky-q-using-an-amp-receiver.2213319/page-2
Joe Fernand actually works at my local HiFi Corner and I went and spoke with him and tried a Dr HDMI 4K which actually makes the issue worse as when units are put in standby the Sky Q wont output until you change settings again then back. Refund it is.
Only thing I caan do is hard reboot the Sky Q.
