Definition of watching sky q minis "at the same time" Does this mean powering off one of my three? Or will putting one in standby release the unused one?

Assuming your main Q box supports 2 concurrent mini's (Some older ones only 1) - then standby should be sufficient.

Re: Definition of watching sky q minis "at the same time" Does this mean powering off one
OK, thanks. I'm having terrible trouble with minis. Sky engineering has told me that wired E/net to main Q will fix everything. Is this plausbile?
Sky Q Main 2Tb - 2.4GHz enabled Fixed IP address
3 x mini Q - 2.4GHz disabled
1 x Sky booster - can't stop it connecting to wifi on 2.4GHz DHCP IP address
Airband BB with Linksys router - 2.4GHz Channel 1; 5GHz Channels 48 and 100
2x 5GHz & 2.4GHz repeaters

Should do, assuming you can run the wires.

Re: Definition of watching sky q minis "at the same time" Does this mean powering off one
Due to my technical background, I can't for the life of me see why wired would be different from wireless 2.4GHz with fixed IP address. Engineer seemed ot imply interference problems, but everything is carefully separated onto different Bands. But the current config is hopelessly unreliable......

Q to Q connectivity uses 5GHz (Default channel 36).

Re: Definition of watching sky q minis "at the same time" Does this mean powering off one
Yes, but I've currently got 2.4GHz enabled on the main box which has fixed iP on the Airband network. I don't see why this is so unstable .... All other 2.4GHz (minis) is disabled and i'm told (by Sky engineer) that mini boxes will get internet connection from Main over the 5Ghz mesh .. Is that right?

Q-to-Q mesh uses the 5GHz band only.
Q to internet uses 5GHz only if Sky router. Otherwise, a 2.4GHz connection is used.
I could be wrong, but I think the mini's need their own 2.4GHz connection to the router.

Although that's not what the engineer said, I suspect you are right, because it's a useless bag of nails at the moment. But how to get definitive answers on this subject? It shouldn't be all guesswork and trail and error. I couldn't operate my satellites like that!!!

Sorry, that sounded like a rant to you! Not what I meant - and thank you for your help!

No worries... The system is proprietary and doesn't necessarily play too nicely with other networks. (Primarily a QoS protocol - a design from almost a decade ago)
I had my system connected over a mesh system using ethernet but in the end it caused issues which have been resolved by disconnecting it back to wireless.

Re: Definition of watching sky q minis "at the same time" Does this mean powering off one
Yes, I can see why replacing the 5GHz mesh with wired wouldn't work well. I think I'll try going back to
Sky Q Main 2Tb - 2.4GHz enabled Fixed IP address
3 x mini Q - 2.4GHz enabled fixed IP address
1 x Sky booster - can't stop it connecting to wifi on 2.4GHz DHCP IP address
Airband BB with Linksys router - 2.4GHz Channel 1; 5GHz Channels 48 and 100
2x 5GHz & 2.4GHz Airband repeaters
and then when my cabling is done, go to
Sky Q Main 2Tb - wired, 2.4GHz disabled, Fixed IP address
3 x mini Q - 2.4GHz enabled fixed IP address
1 x Sky booster - can't stop it connecting to wifi on 2.4GHz DHCP IP address
Airband BB with Linksys router - 2.4GHz Channel 1; 5GHz Channels 48 and 100
2x 5GHz & 2.4GHz Airband repeaters
Thanks for your help

Re: Definition of watching sky q minis "at the same time" Does this mean powering off one
Note that fixing the IP address on the Mini boxes doesn't help if the wireless signal they are getting from another Sky source is unstable or inadequate. They can't use any WiFi from a non-Sky node.

Re: Definition of watching sky q minis "at the same time" Does this mean powering off one
OK, so what is the correct set-up for a Q mini in a nonSky BB wifi system? Turn off 2.4GHz? Booster gives me -70dBm at the mini on 5GHz SKY0xxxx SSID.
Thanks
