Daily loss of satelite signal
This is a strange one almost every day we lose satelite signal, we are watching BBC 1 at sometime between 1200 and 1300 we lose the signal. It comes back usually after about an hour. I have tried other channels just in case it is a strange thing happening with BBC 1 but it is just the same.
It is not the dish moving as I have shaken it and that causes no problems.
I assume it is external interference but I can't find out where, neither neighbour is using anything at that time. One has Sky Q and has no problems the other one has Virgin.
I have the equipment to monitor the frequency the downlink uses and the intermediate frequencies there are no strange signals. I have also monitored the mains feed to the Q box again no stray signals.
I have also reset the box, a V2, to the factory settings.
It can't be anything to do with the time the Q box is on and is overheating, it never happens in the evening or in the morning earlier. Box temperature does not vary. The normal when working signal shows 70 strength and 90 quality (I appreciate that these numbers mean very little) when it fails there is no signal strength shown and as expected no lock. My Labgear S701 also shows no signal but when working all channels are within the expected range.
Can anyone suggest anything else I can try, it is more of an inconvenience than anything else as I just switch to iPlayer but would like to at least find out why it is happening.

Re: Daily loss of satelite signal
@bob1234 As you are able to access your satellite dish, you could purchase a 6 way Hybrid LNB and use one coaxial cable to feed BBC1 to your Sky Q receiver, and the second coaxial cable feeding one of the Hybrid LNB Legacy Universal outputs to your test meter, allowing you to monitor your satellite reception via different intermediate frequencies.
If the Hybrid LNB Legacy Universal outputs are not subject to this problem, then it would be easy to combine these Legacy Universal LNB outputs to provide your Sky Q receiver with a Single Cable Router feed.

Re: Daily loss of satelite signal
@GodfreyThis is embarrassing, I have found the problem and it was nothing technical.
We have new neighbours and they like to air their bedrooms at midday, they open their nice METAL framed windows which blocks the signal to my dish and it returns when the window is closed.
I only needed to raise the dish about 6" and all was well, I told the neighbour out of amusement, they were apologetic but it was certainly not their fault, just my stupidity.
So if there is a problem go for the simplest solution it will probably be right.
