Hi all!
I noticed in the engineers menu, my SkyQ box is set to DVB-S and not the newer DVB-S2.
Is there any benefit to changing it to the latter? i.e. quality of image, reliability, speed of data feed etc?
Best regards

The only thing that does in the engineers menu is
1. default the manual tuning Transponder to the one set in the engineers menu.
2. It is the signal strength transponder so when you go into settings > status > satellite signal it's the one that's in there,
There is absolutely no benefit at all, the channels are told whether to use DVB-S2 or DVB-S you can't change it,
DVB-S is being phased out in may anyway.

I can change mine on my SkyQ box, it has a tick next to which one is selected....but as you say there is no benefit in changing it...

If I hit 'Enter' on the DVB-S2 box, it will switch the setting to it.

Oh yeah you will be able to but no channels will show up unless it's a DVB-S transponder.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more
The settings are used to tune to the test transponder used in the Signal Status
they all need to be set according to the transmission being used - just like they would need to set when tuing into any channels manually
